GENERALIZATION:
Direction; How do we form the past tense of regular and irregular verbs?
Answer:
Regular verb simply forms their past tense by adding -ed or -d to their base form. For some
verbs that end in -y preceded by consonant their past tense is formed by changing -y to -i,
before adding -ed.
In contrast with that in irregular verbs we do not form their simple past tense by adding -ed or
-d to their base forms. Irregular verbs form their simple past either by changing the spelling
or no change in spelling.
