Objectives:

Plan an approach to improve one’s effectiveness when practicing a physical activity.


· Initial assessment of one’s abilities and attitudes when practicing a physical activity
· Statement of one’s expectations and needs with respect to the ability to practice the
activity
· Appropriate formulation of personal objectives
· Appropriate choice of the means to achieve one’s objectives
· Use of clear reasoning to explain the choice of physical activity

SMART goals are:

• Specific: Well defined, clear, precise and unambiguous. Avoid vague statements.
• Measurable: With specific criteria that quantifies your progress toward the accomplishment of
the goal
• Action oriented and Achievable: Attainable and not impossible to achieve. State your action
plan with a minimum of 3 actions, 3 mini goals.
• Realistic: Within reach, realistic, and relevant to your life purpose. What are the barriers and
motivators for you to reach this objective?
• Timely: With a clearly defined timeline, including a starting date and a target date. The purpose
is to create urgency.

NOTE: Each student will choose a different goal to avoid plagiarism. Please don’t use any of
the examples the teacher uses in class for this explanation. If this happens, the work will have
to be re-submitted
Part A – Individual Dance Skill
Select one dance skill aspect that you want to achieve in your Midterm assessment dance performance.
Please use a different goal from the ones the teacher explained and fully develops on the board in class. These are the
ones you cannot use, facial expression, turn, memorization of steps.
Write a S.M.A.R.T. goal for this dance skill. You will assess your success after your Midterm performance in class 7.

Goal Statement

Specific – State one specific dance skill you want to improve upon for the dance. Make this statement your S.M.A.R.T.
objective (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely). This goal has to be precise, clear to understand, not
vague. Avoid the use of general, vague words like lots of, less, more, try, etc. (5marks)

Break down of your goal

Measurable – This requires a number, percentage, some quantifiable measure to gage success. State here, your goal with
a numeric quantity. (1 mark)

Action Oriented – Between now and next week, state 3 precise actions/mini goals/objectives you must do in order to

Please use a different goal from the ones the teacher explained and fully develops on the board in class. These are the
ones you cannot use, save money (financial), nor improve sleep (physical).
Write a S.M.A.R.T. goal that you can achieve in 7 days. Only one week.
