A Semi Detailed Lesson Plan For Listening as Macro Skills

I. Objectives

By the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:

a. define listening as a Macro Skill in communication;

b. recognize the importance of being a good and effective listener in the society;

c. demonstrate active listening skills by conducting a ‘listening test’.

II. Subject Matter:

A. Topic: Listening as Macro Skill

B. Reference How To Develop The Four Macro-skills: Listening Skill, Business


Communication: Basic Concepts and Skills. Listening Skills, Stages of Listening | Stand
Up, Speak Out – Fagan. and Developing the macro skills in a competence-based
curriculum

‌ aterials: Laptop, PowerPoint Presentation, Speaker, Headphones,
Cellphone, Audio Clips, and Puppet.

D. Values: Right practice of effective listening and become a good listener.

III. Procedures

A. Preparation

The teacher will begin the class by greeting the students, leading the prayer,
and checking the attendance.

B. Motivation

The teacher will introduce a puppet named “Kiko” who will join as the host of
the game. The students will be divided into two groups. Kiko will speak a series
of words and the students are tasked to listen and decode what word can be
formed from what Kiko said.

C. Lesson Proper

 The teacher will start the lesson by asking the class about what comes in
their mind whenever they encounter the word “Listening.”

 The teacher will then flash the lesson using PowerPoint presentation for
showing the class the information about Listening as Macro Skills, such as
its definition, process, types of listening, and barriers in effective listening.
D. Generalization

The teacher will encourage the class to share their perspectives about
Listening, its importance, and how can they become an effective listener.

E. Activity

The class will be asked to get a piece of paper, and they will play “Draw This.”
In this activity, each student receives a blank sheet of paper, and the teacher
will provide simple drawing instructions. From here, the teacher will ask the
students to pass their sheet of paper to the student next to them, so each has
a different sheet than the one they began with. Then, repeat the process until
they receive their original sheet back.

F. Evaluation

The teacher will give the students a 10 items quiz about the lesson.

Quiz: (1-10 items)


1. It is the ability to accurately receive and interpret messages in the
communication process.

IV. Assignment

Listen to an audio recording that will be sent to the class group chat, and then try
to transcribe the content of the audio recording.
