Assignment (1)

Question No.(1):
The simple beam shown in Figure (1) is located at a roof of an administration building
and it does not support any partitions. The unfactored dead load (including own weight)
equals 15.0 kN/m and the unfactored live load equals 9.0 kN/m. Compute the immediate
and long-term deflections and check the satisfaction of the ECP 203-2007 requirements
for deflection control.
fcu = 25 N/mm2 n = 10

Question No.(2):
Figure (2) shows a simply beam having a T-section that supports partitions. The
unfactored dead load (including own weight) equals 18.0 kN/m, and the unfactored live
load equals 12.0 kN/m. Compute the immediate and long-term deflections and check the
satisfaction of the ECP 203-2007 requirements for deflection control.
fcu = 30 N/mm2 n = 10
Question No.(3):
A cantilever beam having an R-section (200*700) that carries an unfactored dead load
(including own weight) equals 15.0 kN/m, and the unfactored live load equals 10.0
kN/m. the beam is located at a typical floor and supports walls that are not likely to be
damaged by deflection.Compute the immediate and long-term deflections and check the
satisfaction of the ECP 203-2007 requirements for deflection control.
As-ve(main)=4ɸ18
fcu = 30 N/mm2 n = 10
