1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 A student hostel is a type of residence that provides a common

area for tenants to meet. This type of accommodation also allows
students to carry out their daily activities in the common areas. A hostel
offers some additional alluring characteristics that might boost output
through various activities, competitions, festivals, and events.

1.2 Student organisations and clubs play a significant role in the college
experience. It is a fun and intriguing way to meet new people, form
friendships, find individuals who share your interests, and have a
wonderful time. Societies can assist you in developing leadership
qualities and abilities by planning events and activities.

1.3 Another reason why students prefer to stay in a good hostel is the
environment. It provides them with the necessary environment to study
easily and efficiently. This is because the management and the
environment are designed to make sure that students are comfortable
and have the necessary resources to prepare for their examinations.

3
2. OBJECTIVE

1.1 Constructive controls assist students provide

accommodation with safe and healthy learning conditions,
protect students from area dangers, prevent injuries,
illnesses, and incidents, and limit or eliminate safety and
health risks. Administration and students can prevent and
control the risks indicated in the previous section by using
the procedures described in this part.

o Ensuring that students are protected from many harmful things that
could affect them and their health.
o Place safety signs and notice boards to prevent accidents
o Use a hazard control plan to guide the selection and implementation of
controls and implement controls according to the plan.
o To improve students’ hostel, providing and sustaining a culture of open
and honest reporting of incidents and accidents

4
3. METHODOLOGY

The failure to identify or recognise hazards that are present or could have been
anticipated is one of the "real causes" of workplace injuries, accidents, and
incidents. A strategic, ongoing process for recognizing and evaluating such
hazards is a critical component of any effective safety and health programme.

o Direct observations and walkthroughs.

o Interviews with students and administration.
o Deviation analysis, amongst many other things.
o Investigate injuries, illnesses, incidents, and close calls/near misses to
determine the underlying hazards, their causes, and safety and health plan
weaknesses.
o After performing a general risk assessment, preparing a written survey work
method has proven to be an effective way of identifying the health and
safety actions that must be taken.

4. RESULTS

1.1. Slippery, wet floor surfaces and stagnant waters.

Slips happen where there is too little friction or traction between the footwear and the
walking surface. There does not appear to be a single area where these accidents are
more common. They could be found in restrooms, showers, water filter areas,
entryways, and exits.
Common causes of slips are:
 wet or surfaces

4.2 Barriers located above the stairway.

An obstacle located above the staircase area and directly above the student's head can
endanger the student. When the student hits with the obstacle, he or she may sustain a

7
head injury. This can occur when a student carelessly walks down the stairs or when going
down the stairs at night due to a lack of lighting in that area.

4.3 No effective emergency pathway for safety purpose if any disaster

happens.

These exit discharge areas must be big enough to carry the number of building occupants
who will likely use the exit route. Exit route ceilings should be at least 7 feet 6 inches high.

5. RECOMMENDATION

5.1) The three main methods for preventing hazards in hostels

o provide a hostel environment that is safe from any danger.

o The organisation must always conduct periodic inspections to
ensure the hostel's safety and cleanliness.
o Students should always be careful while staying in the hostel and
always work together to ensure that the hostel is in good
condition.

5.2) Ways to Several promotional activities to promote OSH practices at EDM

workshop:

o Identifying & provide educational materials on health & safety for use as
an input, lending, and dissemination.
o Giving talks and explanations as well as training on occupational safety
and health
o Organising campaigns and exhibitions on occupational safety and health
o Providing expertise on occupational safety and health to public agencies,
the private sector, associations of employers and employees as well as
professional bodies

6. CONCLUSION

Finally, this assignment demonstrates that hazards should be identified during

the project's initial planning phase, including extreme remote readiness
assessments, and controlled at the source whenever possible, including
9
communication and relevant training. In this context, special consideration
should be given to all workers' exposure to hazards, including contractors and
subcontractors, as well as language barriers and gender-sensitive issues.
Learning from incidents and accidents is dependent on effective data
management and reporting systems. Medical surveillance is a tool for
monitoring the development of workers' health in order to detect and prevent
work-related illnesses and injuries. All parties must take extra precautions to
protect workers' privacy and rights. The adult should have the right to full
disclosure of all studies relevant to his or her job.
