S800 I/O Digital Input modules DI810, DI811 and DI830 with serial numbers in the range
SI1631xxxx to SI1649xxxx
SY1650xxxx to SY1714xxxx
S800 I/O Digital Output modules DO810 and DO820 with serial numbers in the range
SI1631xxxx to SI1649xxxx
SY1650xxxx to SY1714xxxx
The manufacturing date can be derived from the serial number, e.g. SI1631xxxx means
year 2016, week 31.
Note that this alert only concerns products with serial numbers starting with the letters SI
and SY. Products with serial numbers starting with other letters, e.g. SC, are not affected.

Description
Modules in the serial number ranges mentioned in “Products Concerned” above have
been recognized by the manufacturer as potentially affected by a production related issue.
For affected digital input modules the typical effect is that the read value from one or
several input channels is either high or low regardless of the actual process value.
For affected digital output modules the typical effect is that the output value of one or
several channels is either high or low regardless of the demand value.
Note: this specific problem is not covered by any diagnostic service, thus the problem will
not be reported to the system.

Corrective Action or Resolution

Replacement is offered free of charge for affected modules and can be done by the
following option, contact ABB Operations Center (Sweden).
Return the modules by using the Return Material Authorization (RMA) form claiming
“Warranty exchange” ordering
