1. SCOPE OF TEST
The “CAPTAIN 250 DI” tractor model had undergone “Initial Commercial Test” at this
Institute vide test report No. T-1081/1606/2017 released in April, 2017. The performance results in
Chapter-17 of said test report were evaluated on the basis of IS: 12207-2014.

Subsequently, the fourth revision of IS: 12207-2019 was established on dated 25 July,
2019. Therefore, the performance results of the said tractor has to be evaluated as per IS: 12207-
2019. It was observed that, some of the parameters are not meeting the evaluative requirements
applicable for “Qualifying Minimum Performance Criteria” as per clause-4 Table-1 of the said
Indian Standard for acceptance of tractor for the purpose of subsidies / NABARD financing. The
backup torque was recorded in base model tractor only 10.8 % only against the minimum
requirement of 12%. Therefore, the manufacture has re-setting of fuel injection pump of the
engine model. The parameters which were not meeting the evaluative requirements has been
modified & permanently incorporated in the production of said tractor model by the manufacturer.
Subsequently, the manufacturer has submitted the said models for inspection/test & same
has been tested/ evaluated and are summarized under Chapter given in Table-B of this report.
During the PTO performance test, the backup torque corresponding to rated power
was recorded as 9.7 % only against the minimum requirement of 12% & does not meet the
requirement as per IS: 12207-2019.
Upon this, the firm has requested to withdraw the test sample from the test vide letter no.
Nil dated 21.07.2020 and applicant’s request was accepted by the competent authority. Hence,
this incomplete test report is released as under.
The applicant informed that the last cut off chassis and engine number of “CAPTAIN
250 DI ” tractor model generated on production line as under:-

Subsequent to the examination of case in the light of clause 3.2.5 (a) , (b) & Sr. no 6 of Indian
Standard 12207: 2019, the following tests were considered to be carried out:

4.3.1.2 The base model “CAPTAIN 250 DI” tractor does not meet the evaluative requirements
of IS: 12207-2019.Hence, the variant model “CAPTAIN 250 DI 4WD +” was not tested
& the incomplete test report released.
The base model does not meet the engine backup torque which is evaluative
requirements of IS: 12207-2019. Therefore, it is recommended that, another sample
should be submitted for test after necessary improvements.
