Unit 1 Fact sheet Mo Miah

Audience profile

My mother, Shirin Miah, who is 46 years old and works as a kitchen assistant at a high school,
is someone who would meet my target audience. She was born in Bangladesh and now lives in
Newton-le-Willows with her husband and two sons. In her free time, my mother enjoys cooking
for the family and going out with friends. Shirin, who belongs to the C1 (lower middle class) as
she is a kitchen assistant in a secondary school, spends most of her money on her family's
groceries and bills. Shirin’s husband, Bokul Miah, is a taxi driver and he spends most of his
money on his family's groceries and bills.

Shirin frequently takes a 6-week vacation every year to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to visit
her other two sons and daughter-in-law who live there. Shirin will return to Dubai in April 2023
with her 2 sons who live in the UK to see their other two sons who live in Dubai. Shirin’s most
recent trip on December 21st, 2021. Shirin frequently buys groceries at Tesco and Asda, she
shops there as it is a reliable shop with good quality products and prices, and they are both
local in the area, and clothes at Matalan, she shops here at Matalan because it has good quality
clothes for a cheap price and it is also local to the area. Shirin enjoys reading gossip magazines
like "Take A Break," not only because she suits the target audience but also because she uses
the magazines as a way to pass the time. Shirin doesn't read books, but she enjoys comedy and
documentaries on TV. The Apprentice and Kitchen Nightmares are two of her favourite TV
programmes. Shirin would like the case study magazine to be detailed and well structured .
