ANNOUNCEMENT: SHE’s A Wishful Thinker

Be reminded that she’s a school girl who sees no barrier not to achieve her goals. A

strong-willed student with great interest in learning, wishes to get a degree and be successful

one day. For the record, Krizza Jane Asistin is her unique name. And this is a great opportunity

for her not to miss. The question is, how will a laptop/tablet be able to help her anyway? At this

juncture, the mic is hers.

“Firstly and my top reason is for my need for education. Technological devices such as

laptops or tablets play a very important role in my own academic learning nowadays. Actually,

they are the most convenient tools to use especially in this new educational system we have

here in the country at present. I do only have one device at this moment which is my personal

mobile phone. I may be more fortunate than others, however, I still encounter difficulties in just

using a simple phone. It has a lot of limitations mainly in the making of school activities in many

types of file like word, PPT presentations and the likes. The storage is also not enough to hold

large files like our learning materials containing our lessons, formative/performance tasks and

summative assessments from the different school subjects. Phone screens are very small too

(compared to laptops and tablets) making it hard for me to read texts and type letters on the

keyboard.

Conversely, if I will acquire either a laptop or tablet, I can work better and with less

struggles. Undoubtedly, either of the two, can fasten my work, save much time and shift to

other things that I still didn’t finish. Connected to this, I can also allot time for myself and to

help in house-related activities in the long run. With their wider screen, actual keyboard and

larger storage capacity, I can write creatively, apply editing and be able to save and upload

school works effectively. Significantly, it can provide bigger accessibility for interactive learning

and studying in my daily class. My technological knowledge and skills will develop even more
with the use of a tablet or laptop which I really think can assist me as I go on with higher levels

of education.

Secondly, it will also serve as a contribution in our family. In reality, my parents still have

to support the three of us in school. Though our eldest brother had already graduated in

college just recently but he is also in trouble right now in looking for a suitable job considering

too that we are under this pandemic. We only have one laptop to share at this very moment. It

is absolutely hard and not enough for us to support our needs in school. In fact, my parents

don’t have that stable job and our budget is just enough for our daily needs. Despite of this, I

still don’t lose hope and I am determined to achieve my dreams not just for myself but also to

our family. If given the chance this time, the device will lessen the burden of my parents in

earning money to provide us another laptop to use. I and my two elder siblings will no longer

worry in coping up with school-related activities.

And of course, as for me, to receive a gift like a laptop can help to set my motivation at

its peak. Honestly, I also want to enhance my capabilities in terms of computer technologies

such as auto cad and drafting as I aspire to become an architect someday. I know to myself that

if I’ll be able to learn them earlier this time, it will be easier for me when I’ll be moving to senior

high school and especially in college. With the use of laptop or tablet, I also want to learn

graphical arts, how to edit videos and other forms of media in efficiently presenting my output

for school. In simple terms, this rectangular device can guide me in building or molding my

greatest dreams for real. One day, I’ll claim it for sure.”

Between all these lines, SHE is hopeful and grateful. SHE noted complaining as the least

thing to do right at this moment. The challenges of today’s learning like the lack of accurate

learning tools and the difficulties of life makes her stay stronger, to bring out the best in her

and to believe and look forward with positivity. In all honesty, yes, SHE’s holding this chance

given and that SHE wants and needs it. Nevertheless, to be chosen or not, SHE will promise to

go forth in her journey.
