SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
By: Mr. Dook

SEO is a requirement for blog/website copy.

SEO is the process of heightening website or blog traffic by appearing in a higher rank on
search engines

Example: when you search something on Google, the things that pop up first are SEO’d
(search engine optimised). It is a good way to get seen first when someone searches for the
thing they need, which is why SEO is crucial for good traffic, as you come up first when
someone looks for you.

How?: Keywords, they are the literal key for searching something, they are the popular
words people search for on the internet

There are two types of keywords: Short-tail keyword, Long-tail keyword (or a keyphrase)

An example of short-tail is for example “paleo diet” or “keto diet”, a longer-tail keyword is
“paleo diet dinner recipes”, it’s just a little more specific than short-tail, but it’s about the
same point.

How do you find these keywords?: There are two ways to do it

Resource: answerthepublic.com, it has an algorithm where they collect data from all Search
Engines and when you search your topic, they show the most highly searched terms. They’ll
show you the top keywords in forms of questions, prepositions, comparisons, alphabeticals,
related.

Cross out alphabeticals, all it does is show you keywords by alphabetical order, you need
keywords that are good by order.

When you search your topic, Choose one or two of the most highly searched keywords that
pertain/relate to your topic/category

After you choose them, select two of them, search those terms in ATP, and repeat the
process.

The second way to finding keywords/phrases is old-school is using search engines

Go to Google and search your topic, scroll to the bottom, at the bottom of Google
there will be a list of words that all relate to your topic in one way, these are the words
that people searching live, write down the top 3-5 keyphrases that pertain directly to
what you are writing about.
Once you find the keyphrases that pertain to what you are talking about, search them on
Google again, and find one or two that are what you are talking about more specifically.

After you find the terms that you need, the key is to include these words into your copy.

If you are writing a blog, one of these words should be in your headline, you can probably
use a keyword in one of the headings.

Blend good SEO keywords into your copy.
