Shell and Plate Models

ANSYS provides a number of multidimensional elements to


model a variety of Structures. Here we will talk about ‘Shell
Elements’, some examples of application are as follows:
• Walls
• Floor Slabs
• Local modelling of plated structures (I beams etc.)

All of the above demand that the shell element must


account for both bending and membrane effects.
