American period (1898–1946)
The Commonwealth of the Philippines was
established by the United States Independence (1946-present)
government in 1934

Spanish period (1521–1898) Japanese Occupation (1941-1946)


The Philippines were claimed in the name on December 8, 1941, ten hours after the attack
of Spain in 1521 by Ferdinand Magellan, a on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese military invaded

President
The president of the Philippines is the head of state
and the head of government and chief executive of
the Philippines. The president leads the executive
branch of the Philippine government and is the
commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the
Philippines.
