This document provides instructions for an activity to analyze the ingredients, formulas, and possible hazards of common household cleaning products. Students are asked to examine the labels of cleaning products they use at home and identify key ingredients. For each product, they should complete a table listing the ingredients, formulas, and possible hazards. An example table is provided analyzing the ingredients of Lysol Disinfectant Spray, Tide Laundry Detergent Liquid Soap, and Clorox Disinfecting Bleach.

Activity No. 1: Cleaning Products
Instructions: Examine the labels on the brands of household cleaning products that you use at home. Identify the essential ingredients (you can identify several ingredients for each cleaning agent) in each type of product. Using the information from this chapter and other reference materials (internet, books, and magazines), determine the formula, function, and possible hazard of each ingredient. Provide a table for each household cleaning product similar to the table found below, then complete it with the needed information. (Do not forget to indicate the brand of the cleaning agent.)
