Belief in Allah’s Messengers

• The meaning of faith in Allah’s messengers is that one should firmly

believe that Allah SWT sent them to mankind to guide them to the way of
truth. They were truthful and faithful, and they all delivered the message
of Allah Ta’ala in full.
• It is incumbent on all Muslims to believe in all Prophets and messengers.
Who denies one of them, denies all.

Surely those who disbelieve in Allah and His apostles and (those who) desire to
make a distinction between Allah and His apostles and say: We believe in some
and disbelieve in others, and desire to take a course between (this and) that.
Those are the disbelievers in reality and we have prepared a humiliating
punishment for the disbelievers.

• Only Allah SWT knows the actual number of Prophets. But it is
mentioned in a Hadith that there were (Approximately) 1240000
(One lac twenty four thousand) Prophets sent by Allah SWT.
• Most prominent messengers were: Noah, Ibrahim, Moosa, Esa ‫
Muhammad ‫ﷺ‬
• Why were messengers sent to mankind?

Who recites to them his verses, and purifies them, who teaches them
the book and wisdom (Suunah).
Difference between Nabi & Rasool
• There is difference between Nabi and Rasool but sometimes both
words are spoken for each other.
• There are different opinions of Scholars about it.
1. Those Who came to the Fussaq (Transgressors) were Prophets and
those who came to the Kuffar (Disbelievers) were Messengers.
2. Rasool = New Shariah + New Scripture (s)
Nabi = No new Shariah + No Scripture, but they preach and follow
the Shariah of previous or existing Rasool.
• Rasool used to be “one” at a time but Nabi were more than one.
Characteristics of Prophethood
1. Humanity

We did not send before you as Messengers any but men to whom We
revealed, from amongst the people of the townships
Their messengers said to them, “We are ˹indeed˺ only humans like you, but
Allah favours whoever He chooses of His servants.
Say, “Had there been angels (living) on the earth, walking about in peace, We
would have certainly sent down an angel from the heavens as a messenger.

2. Innocence

• All prophets are innocent. They are free from errors, mistake and
crime.
We did not send any Messenger but to be obeyed by the leave of
Allah.
Whoever obeys the Messenger obeys Allah
Nor does he speak of his own whims. It is only a revelation sent down
˹to him˺.

3. Gift of Allah SWT
• Prophethood is not something which is acquired by effort. It is
bestowed by Allah and is his special gift. Man’s effort or
intention has nothing to do with it.
Allah knows best on whom to place / bestow Prophethood.
This is the favour of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills. And
Allah is the Lord of infinite bounty.
Finality of Prophethood
• The Quran, Sunnah, and Ijma (consensus) of the entire
Muslim community is in agreement that the Prophet
Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬is the seal of the prophets and there can be no
prophet after him. This belief is called the belief of the finality
of Prophethood (Khatm-e-Nabuwwat).
• About 100 verses of Holy Quran and more than 200 Ahadith
indicate this belief.
• Importance of the Finality of Prophethood and The Battle of
Yamamah.

This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor
upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.
Finality of Prophethood in Hadith
• The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said, “I am the last of all Prophets and you are the
last of all Ummah.”
• The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said, “Indeed Risalah and Nabuwwah has been
ended. So, after me there will neither be any Rasool nor any Nabi.”
• A famous Jurist Imam Abu Hanifa has said that anyone who asks
any evidence or proof from any false claimant of Prophethood will
become a disbeliever because it is clearly declared by the prophet
‫ ﷺ‬that no prophet will come after him.
• Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬is the last of all prophets and Hazrat Isa A.S will
come again as a follower of his Shariah.
