 SLINEX-2023 is the 10th edition of the annual Indian-Sri


Lanka Bilateral Maritime exercise.
 It is being carried out in 2 phases of three days each. The
two phases are the Harbour Phase and Sea Phase.
 INS Kiltan and INS Savitri are representing the Indian
Navy. SLNS Vijayabahu and SLNS Samudra are
representing Sri Lanka Navy.
 The Indian Navy Chetak helicopter and Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft along with Sri Lanka Air Force Dornier and BEL 412 helicopters would also take
part in the exercise.
 The Special Forces of the two navies will also take part in the exercise.
 The aim of SLINEX-2023 is to enhance inter-operability, improve mutual understanding and exchange best practices in multi-faceted Maritime operations
between both navies.
 The ninth edition of Exercise SLINEX was conducted in Visakhapatnam in March 2022.

 Vice-Admiral Suraj Berry became the Chief of Personnel (COP) while Vice-Admiral Atul Anand took over as
the Director-General Naval Operations (DGNO).
 The post of COP was vacant after Vice-Adm Dinesh K. Tripathi assumed the charge as the Flag Officer
Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) of the Western Naval Command.
 V. Adm. Anand had joined into the Executive Branch of the Navy. He served as the Flag Officer
Commanding, Maharashtra Naval Area.
 V. Adm. Berry is a specialist in gunnery and missile warfare. He Joined the Indian Navy in 1987.

 A deal has been signed by UK to join trade pact
with 11 Asia and Pacific nations.
 Three years after it officially left the European
Union, the UK has signed a deal to join a trade
agreement with 11 countries in Asia and the
Pacific.
 The deal to join the group would boost UK
exports by cutting tariffs on goods such as
cheese, cars, chocolate, machinery, gin and
whisky.
 However, the government's own estimates
suggest that being in the bloc would only
increase the size of the UK economy by 0.08 per
cent.
 In 2018, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) was established and which includes countries like
Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.
 Membership of the CPTPP lowers restrictions on trade between member countries and lowers tariffs.
 The agreement is expected to be formally signed by the end of the year following final approval from Parliament and 11 member states.
 The 11 members together generate about 13 per cent of the world's income and Britain has become the first European country to join after 21 months of
negotiations.

 Before his promotion to ED, Nigam served as the head of the Bhopal Regional Office for the RBI.
 Over more than 30 years, Neeraj Nigam has worked in a variety of departments within the RBI, including Regulation and Supervision, Human Resource
Management, Premises, Currency Management, and Bank Accounts. He has worked in both the Central Office and Regional Offices of the RBI.

people privy to the development told VCCircle.
 Several credit card holders complained of receiving the email from the bank just few days prior and some receiving it merely hours before the cards were
blocked for use from midnight of 31 March.
 The impact is across all major fintechs with credit card offerings in partnership with SBM India, such as M2P, RazorPay, KODO, Karbon, EnKash whose
customers’ cards were blocked in a sudden move.
 Most of these fintechs counts venture capital and other private investors.

 A majority of the 10 lakh credit cards issued by SBM Bank have been blocked. As on February 28, SBM’s total credit card outstanding stood at 10.33 lakh,
RBI data showed.
 SBM Bank (India) Ltd is a step-down subsidiary of SBM Holdings Ltd, a listed entity in the Mauritius Stock exchange, promoted by the government of
Mauritius.
 In January this year, SBM Bank came under regulatory scrutiny as RBI banned the lender from processing any foreign exchange remittances abroad under
the so-called Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) till further orders.
 Last year, it had also instructed fintech partners to stop onboarding new customers after an RBI order related to pre-paid instruments.

one which has been proposed is a bigger version to be developed in Kolkata.

for the public and not under the ambit of the health ministry.

 The statue of Ambedkar, coming up in the vicinity of the new state secretariat built on the picturesque Necklace Road is almost ready and is likely to be
inaugurated on or before April 14, 2023, the 125th birth anniversary of the visionary leader,’‘ a senior official of Telangana told businessline.
 The project, a brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was initiated in 2016 at a 11-acre plot of land in the heart of the city with an estimated
cost of about 145 crore.
 Noted sculptors and architects Ram V Sutar and Anil Sutar from Maharashtra have designed the project.
 About 150 and 110 tonnes of steel and bronze have been used in the making of the statue.

 As per CMIE data, urban unemployment remained at 8.4% and rural unemployment rate was 7.5%.

 Unemployment rate was highest in Haryana at 26.8%. Haryana was followed by Rajasthan (26.4%), Jammu and Kashmir,
Sikkim, Bihar and Jharkhand.
 Lowest unemployment was reported in both Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh at 0.8%.
 They were followed by Puducherry, Gujarat, Karnataka, Meghalaya and Odisha.

respectively.

 Siyaya, one of the eight cheetahs brought to India recently from


Namibia, gave birth to four cubs in the Kuno National Park in
Madhya Pradesh in the last week of March. This is a historic
moment for the rehabilitation history of the cheetah in India.
 It is to be noted that these are the first cheetah cubs born in India in
more than 70 years since the extinction of cheetahs in the year 1952.
 The gender of these four cubs could not be ascertained immediately. It takes at least three months to know this. Only after this they will be given names
according to their gender.
 Cheetahs reach breeding age between 20 and 24 months, and their gestation period is between 90 and 100 days. Since these cheetahs were released in
Kuno National Park in September 2022, their breeding process took place in Kuno only.
 It was officially extinct in India in 1952 due to hunting, habitat loss and not enough prey to eat.
 Most of the 7,000 cheetahs left in the world are now in African countries; They are found in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
 Namibia has the largest population of cheetahs in the world.
 The Asiatic Cheetah is Critically Endangered and is now found only in Iran. There are only about 50 cheetahs left.

 On March 27, 2023, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife J.S. Chauhan told that the
female cheetah 'Sasha' released from Namibia in Kuno National Park has died due to kidney
infection. Infection in the kidneys of this female cheetah was already there before coming to India.
 Cheetah's health test was done in the lab located in Van Vihar National Park with modern
machines. A blood sample test revealed that Sasha had a kidney infection.
 The five-year-old female cheetah had been ailing from the infection since last year, having picked
it up while in captivity in Namibia.
 Earlier this month, two of the eight Namibian cheetahs – male cheetah Obaan and female cheetah
Asha – were released into the wild.

 Justice Chitkara assessed the reply received from Chat GPT
and rejected the bail plea of the accused on the basis of his
experiences and decisions given earlier.
 ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is a chatbot
launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It is built on top of
OpenAI's GPT-3 family of large language models.
 It is a type of artificial intelligence that can understand and
generate natural language text.
 It is trained on large amounts of text data and uses an algorithm called a transformer to learn how to generate text that is similar to human
conversation.
