CHAPTER 7
● Range – is the difference between the highest and lowest value in the set of data.
(highest- lowest= RANGE)
● Frequency Distribution – the tabulation of scores or measures group with class interval
● Class size ay nakabase sa kung ilang bilang meron ang bawat class interval.
For example:
49-55 = 7
42-48=7
35-41=7
Ibig Sabihin yung class size ng class intervals ay 7
● ANG N ay makukuha pag inadd lahat ng values sa column ng frequency
● Midpoint or Class Mark – is the mid-value of the class interval. This is computed by adding
the lower and upper limit and the sum divided by 2.
Ex: 49+55= 104/2= 52
● Class Boundaries or Real Limits - are more precise expressions of the class limits by at least
0.5 of their value. It is situated between the upper limit of the class interval and the lower
limit of the next class interval.
Ex: ang class interval ay 49-55. Ang class boundaries niya ay 48.5-55.5
Upper Class Boundary – is the number halfway between the upper class limit of that interval and
the lower class limit of the succeeding (next higher) class interval.
Lower Class Boundary – is the number halfway between the lower limit of the class interval and the
upper limit of the preceding class interval.

The following are suggested steps in construction of frequency distribution

1. Compute the range.


2. Divide the range by 10 to 15 to determine the acceptable size of the interval.
3. Organize the class interval.
4. Tally each score to the category of class interval it belongs to
5. Count the tally column and summarize it under column f.

1. Relative Frequency Distribution – it shows how many percent fall


within each category

2. Cumulative Frequency Less Than (CF<) – is the successive addition of frequencies starting
from the lowest class interval to the highest.

Add mo yung values ng nasa frequency from bottom to top and each sum na makukuha mo
by adding is equivalent to one row to fill.

ex. Copy 10 since sya yung nas apinakababa then add 12 =22 for the next row. Then add 7=
29 for the next row . add 8 =37 for the next hanggang sa mafill up.

Note: Dapat ang nasa pinaka taas na value ay magtatally sa total frequency (N)

3. Cumulative Frequency Greater Than (CF>) – is the successive addition of frequencies starting
from the highest class interval to the lowest.

Same lang ito nung #2 pero from top to bottom naman

4. Cumulative Percentage Frequency Distribution – it determine how many percent fall above
or below a class boundary

CHAPTER 8 : MEAN, MEDIAN AND MODE (UNGROUPED DATA)


ALWAYS ARRANGE THE DATA IN ORDER (Ascending order)

Number of values- yung bilang nung given
For example:
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8= 26 (SUM OF ALL VALUES)
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8=8 (NUMBER OF VALUES)

MEDIAN OF UNGROUPED DATA

n= total number of values


● If n is odd= middle ranked
For example : n=9
n+1/2 = (9)+1/2 = 10/2 = 5 or 5th rank. Then kunin mo kung ano yung value nung nasa
5th rank.
● If n is even= average ng two middle rank

n+1/2 = (8)+1/2 = 9/2 = 4.5. (Identify mo kung nasaan yung 4.5)

Median= 550+560/2=1110/2= 555

Then the median is 555

MODE- kung ilang beses magkakaroon ng magkaparehong value sa set. Minsan isa insan 2 or
3 or higit pa pero minsan wala
Example:
● 8, 9, 10, 10, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17 (Naulit si 10 ibigsabihin si 10 ang mode)
● 18, 19, 20, 20, 20, 20, 21, 22, 25, 25, 25, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 29, 30 (There are 2 modes

20 and 25)

1) Find the mean, median and mode in the set of data below. 14, 17, 10, 22, 19, 24, 8, 12, 19,

MEAN= sum of all the values/ numbers of values


=8+10+12+12+14+17+19+19+20+22+24+25/12
=202/12

MEDIAN = n+1/2th
=n+1/2th
=(12) +1/2
=13/2
=6.5

= there are two modes 12 and 19

STEPS PAANO ISOLVE


1. GET CF (by adding values sa frequency either from bottom to top)
2. GET N (by getting the sum of F)
3. Divide the value depending if it’s quartile, decile or percentile.
Ex. N/4, N/10, N/100
4. Use the answer na makukuha mo sa #3 to get the class interval (which is nakadepende
sa chosen quartile,decile,percentile)
Ex if sa N/4 mo ang lumabas ay 15 hanap ka ng malapit sa 15 sa column ng CF then
yung nasa hilera noon. Yun yung class interval mo.( Assumingly 50-54 kunyari)
5. GET L by getting the lower limit ng class interval (ex. 50-54) ang class interval mo ay
49.5
6. Get the f by getting the sum of all frequencies below the (quartile,decile percentile) class
7. Then yung F(q1) or what ever value yung nasa loob ng parenthesis ay makukuha sa
column ng F at katapat nito yung class interval mo.
(ex. Class interval mo ay 50-54, and f(Q1) mo ay yung nasa tapat which is 10.
Then solve mo na lang

1. The following are the random weights in kilograms of 100 Junior High School students of a
certain school. Compute the following and interpret the results of your computed value. Use a
separate table for each computations. All in all you have six tables, one table for each
computation.

● There are 54 student whose weight in kilogram falling between 35.78 and 57.46
