CHAPTER 6
1. A researcher wants to find the number of students as samples in his research in the College of
Computer Studies at the University of Caloocan City. Compute the number of students from each
course given the table below at 1% margin of error.
N= 400
e= 1% or 0.01
SOLVE:
n= 400
1+ (400)(0.01)^2
n= 400
1+ (400) (0.0001)
n= 400
1+ (0.04)
n= 400
(1.04)
n= 385
2. Using stratified random sampling technique, determine the number of students from Grade 7 to
Grade 12 to be included in a research. Use the Slovin formula to find the number of students in a
sample using 5% margin of error.
Grade 7 2, 700 97
Grade 8 2, 160 77
Grade 9 1, 944 69
Grade 10 1, 620 58

Grade 12 1, 080 39
N= 10800
e= 5% or 0.05
SOLVE:
n= 10800
1+ (10800)(0.05)^2

GRADE 7
2,700/10,800= 0.25 x 386 = 96.5 or 97
GRADE 8
2,160/ 10,800= 0.2 x 386 = 77.2 or 77
GRADE 9
1,944/ 10,800= 0.18 x 386 = 69.48 or 69
GRADE 10
1,620/ 10,800= 0.15 x 386 = 57.9 or 58
GRADE 11
1,296/ 10,800= 0.12 x 386 = 46.32 or 46
GRADE 12
1,080/10,800= 0.1 x 386 = 38.6 or 39
CHAPTER 7
● Range – is the difference between the highest and lowest value in the set of data.
(highest- lowest= RANGE)
● Frequency Distribution – the tabulation of scores or measures group with class interval
● Class size ay nakabase sa kung ilang bilang meron ang bawat class interval.
For example:
49-55 = 7
42-48=7
35-41=7
Ibig Sabihin yung class size ng class intervals ay 7
● ANG N ay makukuha pag inadd lahat ng values sa column ng frequency
● Midpoint or Class Mark – is the mid-value of the class interval. This is computed by adding
the lower and upper limit and the sum divided by 2.
Ex: 49+55= 104/2= 52
● Class Boundaries or Real Limits - are more precise expressions of the class limits by at least
0.5 of their value. It is situated between the upper limit of the class interval and the lower
limit of the next class interval.
Ex: ang class interval ay 49-55. Ang class boundaries niya ay 48.5-55.5
Upper Class Boundary – is the number halfway between the upper class limit of that interval and
the lower class limit of the succeeding (next higher) class interval.
Lower Class Boundary – is the number halfway between the lower limit of the class interval and the
upper limit of the preceding class interval.
2. Cumulative Frequency Less Than (CF<) – is the successive addition of frequencies starting
from the lowest class interval to the highest.
Add mo yung values ng nasa frequency from bottom to top and each sum na makukuha mo
by adding is equivalent to one row to fill.
ex. Copy 10 since sya yung nas apinakababa then add 12 =22 for the next row. Then add 7=
29 for the next row . add 8 =37 for the next hanggang sa mafill up.
Note: Dapat ang nasa pinaka taas na value ay magtatally sa total frequency (N)
3. Cumulative Frequency Greater Than (CF>) – is the successive addition of frequencies starting
from the highest class interval to the lowest.
4. Cumulative Percentage Frequency Distribution – it determine how many percent fall above
or below a class boundary
1. A. Class : 7
49-55 3 52 48.5-55.5 40 3
42-48 8 45 41.5-48.5 37 11
35-41 7 38 34.5-41.5 29 18
28-34 12 31 27.5-34.5 22 30
21-27 10 24 20.5-27.5 10 40
Class size = 7 N = 40
MEAN
420, 480, 500, 550, 560, 670, 700, 860 (pag add mo then divided by 2)
MODE- kung ilang beses magkakaroon ng magkaparehong value sa set. Minsan isa insan 2 or
3 or higit pa pero minsan wala
Example:
● 8, 9, 10, 10, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17 (Naulit si 10 ibigsabihin si 10 ang mode)
● 18, 19, 20, 20, 20, 20, 21, 22, 25, 25, 25, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 29, 30 (There are 2 modes
20 and 25)
1) Find the mean, median and mode in the set of data below. 14, 17, 10, 22, 19, 24, 8, 12, 19,
20, 12, and 25
= 8 10 12 12 14 17 19 19 20 22 24 25
MEDIAN = n+1/2th
=n+1/2th
=(12) +1/2
=13/2
=6.5
Get the average of 2 values
17+19/2 =18
MODE= 8 10 12 12 14 17 19 19 20 22 24 25
= there are two modes 12 and 19
