Question:
The sum of two-digit number and the number formed by reversing the order of digits is $66 .
$ If the two digits differ by 2, find the number. How many such numbers are there?
Options:
1) 4
2) 3
3) 2
4) 1
Ans:
3
Solution:
A tip for solving these types of questions
In elimination method, linear equations can be solved by eliminating one of the variables
first, resulting in a single variable equation and then finding the value for each variable.

Given: The difference between the digits of the two-digit numbers is 2  and some of the
numbers obtained from interchanged digits and the number is 66.

To Find: The number.

Step 1:

Instruction: Obtain the equation for the condition that the difference of digit is 2 .

Calculation:
Here, X is the ones place digit and Y  is the tens place digit of the number.

Instruction: Obtain the equation for the condition that the sum of the number after
interchanging the digit and the number is 66 and simplify.

Calculation:

Instruction:  Add equation X+Y=6 and X-Y=2 to obtain the value of X.

Calculation:

So, the digit at units place is 4.

Instruction: Substitute 4 for X in x+y=6 to obtain value for  Y.

Calculation:
So, the digit at tens place is 2
Therefore, the number is 24.
