Introductory Statement expectations:

 State the authors and the works


 Develop authorial intention in relation to Global Issue
 About 30 – 45 seconds is the sweet spot

What is NOT NEEDED:

 DON’T provide lots of background context about Global Issue


 DON’T provide long examples of why the Global Issue is relevant today
 DON’T provide lots of background story about the author’s life or creation of the work
 DON’T give your personal opinions that are unrelated to the Lit and Non-Lit texts –
(even if these opinions are about the Global Issue, if they are not directly addressing
your texts, they are unneeded and a waste of time.)

Use of sentence frame:

 Replace the highlighted parts with the relevant information from your own texts
 Change the word choice and structure to personalize
 Don’t add anything from the above NOT NEEDED section
 Keep it short and sweet – record yourself and try to finish your delivery in 30 – 45
seconds
