General points of feedback/areas of focus
● NOT answering the question asked:
○ Running with word power and not distribution, cultural context etc.
○ Not understanding or knowing what cultural context is:
■ Gender, religion, race, values, world of the text, etc etc! What was normal life like? Etc.

● NOT comparing texts - it is a comparative essay - criteria A and B are specifically about compare and
contrast, 20/30 marks on compare and contrast elements!
■ Talking about points in isolation rather than in light of the two texts

● NOT analyzing quotes or authorial choices - rather re-telling stories

● Trying to make words sound fancy and losing the whole clarity of point
PAPER 2
● LACK of clear introductions and topic sentences

● Only talking about ONE POEM - poet’s work

● When we are selecting evidence - we are not analyzing it in light of the Question asked!

● Not re-read our work - phrasing is way off and affecting Criteria A,B,D!

● MARKING SCHEMES ARE NOT BEING USED!!!!

Our key areas of focus for Paper 2:

- Analyzing in isolation of your texts

- We are not actually comparing our

texts, but rather we are
answering the question is isolation
of each other.

- It is NOT enough to just say

‘similarly’ or likewise and then not
make any more links or
connections

- We have to ensure in our second

body paragraph for text 2 that
