FINAL PROJECT

ENGLISH LEXICOLOGY AND SEMANTICS

FINAL PROJECT GUIDELINES


(K62)

A. RESEARCH (GROUP WORK)


1. Work in groups of 5/6. Choose a topic you are all interested in.
2. Each member selects a reading text about the domain of your interest that has the
length of at least 550 words in an IELTS book and does the following tasks:
• List 20 new words (at least level B2) related to the topic of the reading text.
• Analyse the components, origins, the meaning, and the word-formation
processes by which these words are created, their uses and frequency of
occurrence…
3. All members in each group work together to share the data and findings.
NOTE:
- Six members in each group MUST collect SIX DIFFERENT reading
texts related to the topic you have chosen.
- The words collected from the six reading texts MUST BE
DIFFERENT.
- Six groups MUST CHOOSE SIX DIFFERENT topics.

B. REQUIREMENTS OF THE FINAL PROJECT WORK


 GROUP WORK: Each group is required to submit:
1. A sheet of group assignment and the leader’s assessment.
2. The group’s final project work (word document)
The structure of the final project work MUST include the following:
1. The Project title, Class, Group number and members
2. Reasons for choosing the topic
3. Data Analysis (includes the six reading text with highlighted words that were
chosen for analysis and their sources, the tables of data for analysis in terms of
word structure, word origins, word meaning and word formation…)

5. A 500-word summary of group work's final project (Part 1) and a 500-word
course reflection essay (Part 2).

C. PRESENTATION IN CLASS (GROUP WORK & INDIVIDUAL WORK)

D. FINAL REPORT (INDIVIDUAL WORK)


PART 1: Write a 500-word report to summarize the group work's final project. The
report will be evaluated in terms of "task fulfillment," "content," "organization," and
"writing proficiency."
(Note: You MUST write the summary in the form of an essay)

PART 2: Write a reflection essay on the course. You should write at least 500 words.
(E.g. What you have you learnt by the end of the course? What will you be able to do? Do
you feel content with the course and lecturer’s teaching methods? What do you think
should be improved in terms of teaching methods and material ,….)
