"Effective interpersonal and communication skills can help to build trusting relationships and

foster a caring environment (Arnold and Boggs, 2020), leading to greater accuracy and
understanding of information Kumar and Lata (2011)Suikkala et al., 2020, Suikkala et al.,
2021)."(Nursing Education and Practice). Interpersonal Communication is used everyday in the
healthcare industry no matter what department or facility you work at. All healthcare
professionals within a system must learn how to communicate effectively with each other to be
able to have the best outcomes for their patients. Patients are coming to these facilities sicker
and with many more health issues than before. In order to give them the best outcomes and
chances for recovery many different specialty areas need to work collaboratively together.
Many times, you would for example need the nurses, surgeons, hospitalist, cardiologist,
infectious disease, physical therapists, and even the dietician involved in the patient's care. In
order to achieve this healthcare systems and colleges have taken notice of this deficit among
newly graduated nurses and have now begun to incorporate this element into their curriculum.
