1. Prompt and Quick The first aider should act promptly and
quickly to provide immediate assistance to the
victim of an accident or injury.
2. Resourceful Resourceful enough to make available first
aid material at once or get the required things
on the spot for giving immediate relief to the
victim.
3. Wise and Intelligent Intelligent and wise enough to decide what
immediate treatment is essential even before a
complete diagnosis, especially in case of
serious injuries and severe bleeding.
4. Dexterous and Clever Clever enough to handle the patient without
giving unnecessary pain and use the
application efficiently.
5. Faith and Perseverance Should have full faith in him/herself and in
the success of his/her efforts and should
continue his efforts even if he was to handle
all serious and non-serious situations until
proper medical aid is received.
6. Calm and Controlled He/She should be calm and controlled
because he has to take immediate action
without any fuss or panic.
7. Skillful and Tactful Should be skillful and tactful to know the
symptoms and history of the case without
wasting the time.
8. Communication Skills Being able to communicate with a victim and
reassure them, in a high-pressure situation, is
a very important part of a first responder’s
role. Calming and motivating a victim can
increase their chance of survival and reduce
the risk of heart or organ failure.
Communication is also important for
verbalizing the situation and injuries to the
emergency services in person or over the
phone.
9. The ability to work under pressure s a first aider you must be prepared for all
possibilities, and know how to react quickly
to the situation.  You must keep calm –
panicking will only make the situation worse
– and be able to work effectively under
pressure.
10. Positivity Someone who always sees the glass as half
full rather than half empty is a prime
candidate for a first aider. Positivity will help
you to reassure the injured person and prevent
yourself from quickly becoming mentally
drained while on the job.

Knowledge of first aid promotes a sense of safety and well-being amongst people,
prompting them to be more alert and safe in the surroundings they dwell in. Awareness
and desire to be accident-free keep you more safe and more secure, reducing the number
of causalities and accidents. Knowledge of first aid promotes a healthy, secure, and safer
environment, and instills confidence amongst people, their families, their colleagues, and
associates. Basic first aid knowledge is very helpful in dealing with trauma situations. Not
just the medical help they provide, but the confidence they exhibit is very helpful during
casualties. Being trained to provide first aid is useful to oneself and society.
