Head of Data

Locatión: Panamá (Relocation to Panama is required. The company will support with
relocation costs and process)

Key responsibilities:
● Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture for ongoing and new projects.
● Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business
requirements.
● Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual
processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
● Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of
data from a wide variety of data sources using different database and different cloud
services.
● Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into
customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
● Work with stakeholders including the Local, Regional and Global teams to assist with
data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
● Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data
systems.
● Develop efficient ELT processes.
● Assemble data sets that meet business requirements.

Desired skills:
● Advanced working different database knowledge and experience working with relational
database query authoring as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
● Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
● Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes
to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

Desired professional experience

● 5+ years experience as Data Engineer role developer shipping digital products,
preferably financial services related.
● 4+ year experience with Data Lakes, Data Meshes and Data Warehouses
● 3+ years of experience in cloud-based or hybrid development with the cloud
● Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
● Experience working with best-of-breed technologies for delivering web and mobile
experiences.
● Experience with Big Data tools such as Spark and Amazon EMR.
● Advanced knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and being capable of
writing non-trivial SQL.
● Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
