Induction logs

o Induction logs are designed to measure the conductivity of

rock formations by using the electromagnetic principles

o The process involves the interaction of magnetic

and electric fields

Objectives
•Determination of apparent conductivity
•Boundaries detection
•Identification of oil-saturated zones
Induction vs Lateral log
CHFR Cased hole formation resistivity tool
The family of CHFR cased hole formation resistivity tools provides deep-reading measurements
of true formation resistivity (Rt) from behind steel casing.
The CHFR-Plus tool provides improvements in the operational efficiency of cased hole resistivity
measurements.
The CHFR-Slim slimhole tool fits in casing as small in diameter as 2 7/8 in.
Applications
■ Resistivity measurement behind casing in new or old wells
■ Determination of residual oil saturation
■ Contingency logging in wells where openhole logs could not be run

CHFR has limited applications under certain conditions completion and casing. It is not generally
recommended to use CHFR in dual casing, chrome casing, heavy casing, fibre glass casing, scaled
casing and small tubing
