Some people regard eating meat as completely wrong.

To what extent do you agree?

Human beings can be herbivorous or carnivorous. Nowadays, a new concern is being debated
about whether eating meat is unethical. The essay will argue that meat consumption is incorrect to a
great extent. This is due to animal cruelty and the availability of alternative artificial meat sources and
protein sources.

Although many laws exist against animal cruelty, they are neglected worldwide. Animals have been
slaughtered in brutal ways since the old civilizations. When meat processing started industrial wise it
exacerbated animal abuse beyond our imagination. Animals are confined in metal gages while their
movements are restricted around the clock. Moreover, they are forced to breed by artificial
insemination for increased meat production which prevents their natural way of reproduction. In
addition to these, these body parts were amputated without anaesthetics. For instance, Peta, an animal
rights organization explicated atrocities towards animals that took place in the UK pig farms where pigs
are abused, and piglets’ tails are cut off without sedation.

Secondly, technology brought different meat alternatives. Vegan meat burgers are available in the
market, manufactured from red beans, wheat flour and Portobello mushrooms. Furthermore, the lack of
consumption of meat may cause protein deficiency. However, proteins can be acquired by the
consumption of milk and eggs without the exploitation of animals and birds. Having said that, we cannot
turn our back on meat eaters as they claim that modern technology can slaughter animals without
creating pain. Additionally, people have the right to take whatever they wish as long as they obey the
rules of the government.

In conclusion, this article argued that the consumption of meat is not morally unacceptable to a
significant level as it hurt animals. Additionally, people ignore the accessibility of meat alternatives. In
my opinion, meat consumption is somewhat unprincipled because animals are mistreated for
economical benefits.
