Exploring Random Variables

What I learned in the lesson is A random

variable is a variable whose value is unknown
or a function that assigns values to each of an
experiment's outcomes.

Normal Random Variable

In this lesson we learn to how identify regions
under the normal curve corresponding to
different standard normal values and many
more. As with any probability distribution,
the normal distribution describes how the
values of a variable are distributed. for us is
the most important probability distribution in
statistics because it accurately describes the
distribution of values for many natural
phenomena aspect.

Computing the Mean and Variance of a

Discrete Probability Distribution

What I learned in the lesson is To find the

expected value, E(X), or mean μ of a discrete
random variable X, simply multiply each value
of the random variable by its probability and
add the products. The formula is given as
E(X)=μ=∑xP(x)

Normal Random Variable

What I learned in the lesson is To find the

variance σ2 of a discrete probability
distribution, find each deviation from its
expected value, square it, multiply it by its
probability, and add the products.
