E. Procedure:
(a) Remove attachment hardware (4, 6, Figure 801) and spring (2).
(a) Only applicable if the brake lining package contains two rivet-shaped pins (8):
Insert a pin (8) in each of the two brake linings (1) into the borehole of the support
plate of the brake linings so that the pinhead lies on one side of the linings.
(b) Ensure that pins (8) lie with the pinhead on the side of the linings against the
support plate of the brake linings (1) and are firmly installed in the support plate.
Peen any pins that may be loose.
(c) Using a wooden wedge, press brake piston into brake caliper.
NOTE Whenever the brake linings are replaced ensure to always replace
them in pairs by new ones.
(d) Insert brake linings (1) in brake caliper (3) so that the linings face the brake disk
(5).
- the arrow on the spring central bar points anticlockwise in the brake disk’s
direction of rotation,
- the rounded side of the spring points downwards to the brake linings.
(f) Ensure that screw (6) does not have any mechanical damage, corrosion, deformation
and thread damage. Discard damaged screws.
(g) Insert screw (6) in brake caliper (3) from the transmission side so that the screw
shank is above the spring (2).
(h) Install nut (4) on screw (6) so that the connection does not bind and the screw
only just retains free movement.
