English for small groups Communication is my last English requirement class
in my last semester of studying at UUM, and I felt that I did not choose the wrong class.
I am really happy that in my last semester I met the best lecturer I have ever had; of
course, it is Ms. Fatin. I really learned about the class since the way Ms. Fatin delivered
the knowledge made it very easy to understand. As a student, most of the students
really like being taught online because they can be lazy and easygoing. However, in
this class, I felt more comfortable if I was learning offline with Miss Fatin. I felt really
excited and ready to get more new knowledge from Ms. Fatin directly.

As a result, the English for Small Group Communication (ESGC) class provided me
with a wealth of new information about group communication. Starting with problem
solving, I learned a lot about how to overcome and discuss the problem; at first, I only
understood how to overcome it, but after the class, I knew a lot of theory about problem
solving skills.Other than that, I learned about movie scene analysis, which for me was
one of the most interesting lectures that I had. We learned about paralanguage and
kinesics, or, in an easier way, understanding the body language of the characters in
the movie, which is a study regarding non-verbal communication. There are a lot of
movements that have different meanings, and I really enjoyed learning about that.
Then the assignment is when we analyse the scene from a movie, which is really
exciting since, as students, we usually watch the movie without analysing it.

In addition, the last presentation was the best way for me to learn a new study, which
is role playing. In this assignment, we perform a role play or some sort of drama, and
we play the character that we learn in class. There are different roles and 10 frequently
used roles, and we must perform in them. As we study new knowledge and have fun
when doing the role-play presentation, it is amazing and really thoughtful. Actually,
when preparing the presentation, we really only have one night since the script was
just finished the evening before our presentation and we are the first group.
Nonetheless, we did exceptionally well, possibly because some of us were not
unfamiliar with the type of drama; as for me, I had done some short film and drama in
high school and middle school.

The struggle that I encountered during my study in ESGC class was when one of my
team members left for Umrah, and the other team member really needed to prepare
for the assignment with only 4 people. But we can overcome the problem by still doing
the assignment, helping our friend, and informing him about the assignment that he
needs to tell Ms. Fatin later. Another challenge was preparing our role play in one
night, which we accomplished admirably.

The most frustrating thing is when our team member leaves for Umrah, because we
really need to settle things fast while still contacting our friend who left. We also
finished the problem-solving presentation three weeks prior to our real presentation
date. My group was divided since one person left, and the group did not work
accordingly. Nonetheless, we overcame it by meeting offline and in person outside of
class; we are now closer and better acquainted, and we have made new friends.

On the other hand, there are still a lot of things and new knowledge that I gain in this
ESGC class, like managing group conflict, individual diversity, conflict negotiation
styles, etc. Ms. Fatin did a great job with all of the lectures, and I really enjoyed learning
from her.I gained a lot of new knowledge that is really important and got the knowledge
really smoothly and easily from Ms. Fatin. Once again, thank you so much, Ms. Fatin.
You really succeed in being the best lecture in my study at UUM, and I really hope that
you achieve everything from what you teach us. Thank you so much, Miss.
