General Principle on Human information processing

Intro

In Speech, the speaker uses sound. In reading, the source of message is print. These two main types of
communication have one aim- matching the message and how it’s being interpreted.

While noise in common speech, it also happens in reading. This will bring uncertainty to the readers are
as some sentences are ambiguous. – means doubtful or uncertain

Example

Ship Sails Today

This will give two interpretation of the phrase

1. A vessel is reading today

2. The person is commanding another person to sail the ship today.

This will be fixed with the use of redundancy: Redundancy – helps reduce the uncertainty

REDUNDANCY means a letter, word, or even sentence is said to be redundant when it adds NO new
information to what has already been conveyed.

As this allows the readers to have clear interpretation of the message. So the above sentence can be
fixed with inclusion of the word THE. Making it THE SHIP SAILS TODAY.
