Media Literacy Concepts

1. Critically assess the credibility of information produced by the mass media.


2. Discern fake news from the real like ones.
3. Access, decode, evaluate, analyze, and create both print and electronic media.
4. Experience the creative way of reading and designing hypertext that attracts the reader
through the use of technology.
5. Knowledgeable in using various types of technology
6. Builds one’s understanding of their role in society the same way with their skills in
inquiry and self-expression.

Roles of Media Literacy

1. Learn to think critically. Analyze the content and determine if the information is accurate
enough.
2. Become a smart consumer of products and information. Determine the credibility and
accuracy of the advertising.
3. Recognize the point of view. Respecting one’s perspective to allow different kinds of
points of view.
4. Create media responsively. Responsible enough to accept other people’s thoughts and
opinions in the same way we must observe appropriate ways of expressing our own
thoughts and opinions.
5. Identify the role of media in our culture. The messages that are being conveyed should
shape one’s understanding of various things in life.
6. Understanding the author’s goal. Recognize and understand the influence the authors are
trying to have on us so we can make the best decision about whether to accept or deny
certain information.
