When we heard the word Palimbang, the first thing that came to our mind was
that it was a dangerous place because of the past massacre in Palimbang. After
the first four days of Ramadan, members of the Philippine Constabulary arrived
and captured barangay officials, along with 1,000 other Muslims, and never
returned. For more than a month, the military would round up murderers in the
area in batches. According to testimonies, victims were forced to strip naked, dig
their own graves, and be shot.

Get to Know Palimbang

Palimbang, officially the Municipality of Palimbang (Hiligaynon: Banwa sang Palimbang; Tagalog: Bayan ng
Palimbang; Maguindanaon: Inged nu Palimbang, Jawi: ‫)ايڠايد نو ڤاليمبڠ‬, is a 2nd class municipality in the
province of Sultan Kudarat, Philippines, has a population of 92,828 people.  It was incorporated on August 14,
1959, through Executive Order No. 350 by President Carlos P. Garcia. Their annual feast named Kalilang sa
Biwang is celebrated every 11 November.

There is a story that in ancient times, the area now
covered by Palimbang was called Pula. One day, the
boat of a group of fishermen from Palimbang,
Indonesia was washed ashore in Pula. Instead of
going back to Indonesia, they settled in Pula and
formed a community. Soon they became numerous
and their settlement was permanently called
Palimbang. From a tumultuous past, Palimbang is
now an emerging tourist spot. Tourists visit this town

to frolic on its still relatively unspoiled beaches and
the natural islands that are very close to the
shorelines, an attraction that is so far known only to
exist in this town in the entire Soccsksargen or
Region 12. Aside from its known tourist attractions
there are still places that could possibly become a
tourist spot that are not yet discovered and one of it
is Hidden Cascade.

Hidden Cascade is 151 kilometers away from General Santos City and
will take 2 hours and 45 minutes of ride before you reach the
destination.

Wastewater from home has to be treated in an environmentally friendly manner to reuse it. In the
system screening is the very first process where wastewater is cleaned (removal of course particles
i.e. sanitary items, cotton buds, face wipes, glass particles and etc.); though heavy machinery is not
used here. Then the primary treatment is applied, where organic/solid materials are separated. It
is done by putting the screened water into settlement tanks for the solids to sink the bottom of the
tank. The rest of the process is termed secondary treatment; high removal of BOD, COD and toxic
materials are done at this stage. Primary treated water is stored in rectangular shaped tanks
(Aeration Lane) and the air is pumped inside to meet the DO. Lastly, sludge is again filtered and
scrapped by sand filter bed resulting in edible water to be reused. Then the clean water is released
into nature for reusing. Figure 1 shows the outline of the proposed system.
