PERSONAL STATEMENT FOR MASTER OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Studying abroad has always been my dream. I am always eager to discuss ideas with students
from other countries and civilizations, learn about their unique traditions, and deepen my
understanding of what electrical engineering is all about. I now have a better appreciation of just
how crucial good English, writing, and speaking skills are. The University is well regarded for
having one of the best electrical engineering programs in the region. Therefore, there is no better
location for me to pursue my passion, hone my abilities, and ultimately influence the world.
Organizations and individuals are starting to think about alternative energy sources that are
cleaner and more economical in order to increase the nation's power generating capacity and
ensure reliability and stability.

At University of Somalia (UNISO), where I took pertinent introductory courses like digital and
signal processing, engineering physics, network analysis, and electronic measurements, planning
and optimizations. I earned Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Engineering with a
majoring in Electronics, I spent a year interning at Somali Optical Network (SOON) during my
fourth year of college learning about ISPs and gaining practical experience installing, testing,
boosting, maintaining, and fixing various pieces of voice, data, and network equipment at
telecom locations. Then, my project work on a fire detection and alarm system characterized my
final year.

I also earned a diploma in Solar Technology for renewable energy from Hayle Barise Technical
Development Center. My introduction to power and energy systems was through the PV System,
solar cell design, basic safety concepts, sustainable energy power electronics, and electrical
system design. Along with having the fundamental knowledge, I also possessed the practical
hands-on abilities, such as the ability to calculate PV circuit voltage and currents, choose and
install wiring, and install and commission real-world components in a grid interactive and/or
standalone photovoltaic system for commercial and residential applications. In Mogadishu,
I worked at Somalia’s main electricity power company (BECO) for 2 years and got experience
performing tasks like assessing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring,
equipment, and appliances, troubleshooting and repairing electricity systems and designing,
among others. I picked this MSc in Electrical Engineering program because my everyday work
routine offers me new challenges and chances to reinvent myself. I will be able to offer better
solutions as a specialist in electric power and energy systems thanks to it. Furthermore, I am
interested in conducting research on the integration of two or more renewable energy sources
(photovoltaic and solar pump water), storage systems, smart grids, and/or reliability model and
control in order to decrease the demand for renewable energy sources and make electricity more
affordable.

By enrolling in this course at the KFUPM, I will have the opportunity to enjoy world-class
learning modules, workshops, and research opportunities that are especially suited to my learning
requirements. I am aware that the institution obtains significantly research grants and funding
each year, and I intend to make use of this funding to make my research easier. Finally, attending
the KFUPM will enable me to join an alumni network of distinguished individuals with a global
reputation.

I really believe I am fit for this program based on my pertinent academic background, skills, and
experience. I am confident that my previous work in the field of electrical engineering will help
me to give insightful viewpoints in class discussions and research projects. I will be bringing this
expertise with me to this program. In conclusion, I feel that I am fully prepared to start my post-
graduate studies, and I am eager to be given consideration for this program.

Yours sincerely
