Ever since I was little, I was always different from other kids.

Most kids around the

ages of five to twelve tend to play sports or play an instrument, but for me, I was
always sitting at home playing with my electrical circuit toy that my mom got me
for Christmas or looking at power lines when I am walking to school wondering to
myself “how does this function”? When I went to high school, I was admittedly
intrigued into mathematics and physics. From learning and working with
trigonometry ratios to constructing a real electric circuit to turn a fan on, I fell in
love with electrical engineering. Most people assume that electrical engineering is
just inventing something with power and wires, but to me, I believe that electrical
engineering is a very valuable career that will revolutionize the ways we produce
sustainable energy as well as it will be one of the key careers to help stop climate
change in the future.

Under the guidance and support of Professor Juri Jatskevich, I intend to study the
processing of electrical energy at the University of British Columbia, including
studying renewable and sustainable energy that we use today, and electrical
power systems of vehicles, aircraft and ships. I am very passionate to learn about
electrical energy because electrical energy is at the forefront of technological
advancements and will be a big part of our future as well as, I am also very
passionate about inventing a revolutionary energy source that will help humanity
combat climate change.

Furthermore, my studies at the university of British Columbia’s faculty of

engineering will bring me more than just knowledge. UBC offers a great Co-op
program that will help me apply all my knowledge that I have learned in class into
working in a simulated work environment that will benefit me after I have
graduated from university in which it will provide me with work experience even
when I am still in school! Furthermore, this program will help me become a very
technologically driven person who strives to find solutions to global challenges in
energy, health, communication and safety. This program also provides me with a
lot of experience modeling and using electromechanical devices and assisting with
construction or maintenance management duties for residential, commercial or
industrial installations. Overall, the Co-op program will provide me with a lot of
practice working in a work environment as well as it will help me become more
interested in working with technology and electricity.
Besides the amazing Co-op program UBC has to offer, UBC also offers a variety of
electrical engineering clubs that caters to students' diverse interests. These clubs
often focus on specific areas such as electronics, renewable energy, robotics, or
programming. Students like me can participate in hands-on projects, attending
workshops, and collaborate on innovative initiatives within these clubs, as well as
it will enhance my skills and networking opportunities. These clubs are a great
way for me to meet many new people that share similar interests and traits like
me which can help me foster new connections and form bonds and friendships
during my time in university.

In conclusion, the Co-op program and the clubs at UBC will provide me with a lot
of experience working on a workplace as well as the course helps me learn about
future technological advancements for creating an electrical power system that is
sustainable aligns with my passions and goals. I am looking forward to being a
part of a community that is so passionate about creating new technological
advancements as well as inspiring the future generations of how important
energy means to this world.
