Statement Of Purpose

I live in Mumbai. Mumbai is called city of dreams but Finding a Big home in Mumbai is very difficult. I
live in a small house within congested surroundings. My father is a chef but he works as a part time
electrician so as a child instead of toys I was surrounded with raw wires, switches, tube light and many
more electrical equipment’s. I was curious about what are these raw materials, where they are use, how
these materials can develop such amount of power and how people are able to control this power with just
a click of a button. This is how I introduced with electricity. Electricity is become vital part of our life
from charging our phone to running multinational industries, power is must. As I teenager who want to
fulfil his curiosities, I was going with my father to assist him. When I completed my school with
significant grades, a lot of options open to me to pursue career in majority of fields. After doing a lot of
research and introspect myself, I decide to build my career in a field which always fascinating me from
the beginning of my life.

I took admission at K. J. Somaiya Polytechnic for 3 years of Diploma Engineering Course in Electrical
stream in year of 2014. As a student who did his education in local dialect, at beginning I was found it
difficult to study my diploma in English language but as soon as get grip on language my concepts are
started to clear. There I had six classroom semesters. In classroom lectures I got thoroughly acquainted
with many subjects like Transmission and Distribution of Electrical Power, Basics of Electrical
Engineering, Principle of Control Systems, Testing and Installation of Electrical Equipment,
Instrumentation, Management Etc. As a final year project, I worked on project called “ISLANDING
SYSTEM” It is a basically idea of national grid of high voltage electricity network, connecting power
stations and ensuring that electricity generated anywhere in India can be satisfy demand elsewhere.

After Completing my Diploma Engineering, I decided to pursue under graduate studies in Electrical
program in year 2017. In the period of completing my undergraduate degree I got exposure to detailed
study of subjects like Electromagnetic field, Control systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Measurement,
Linear Integrated Circuits, Electronics, Pulse Controllers, High Voltage Engineering, Utilization of
Electrical Energy etc. The theory part coupled with practical implementation helped clears my concepts.

I worked on a project with the prestigious Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), with twin goals. The
first objective was to perform Calcination Ammonium Di-uranate at high voltage and microwave
frequencies, and the second one was to enable smooth technology transfer for commercialization of
BARC’s research. Along with strengthening my core electrical domain knowledge, this experience has
taught me how to look at a project in a holistic manner. Additionally, working in such a research-oriented
environment has strengthened my resolve to continue my education with a research-based program.
Working with highly-qualified scientists with multiple patents, inventions and achievements to their
name, and their willingness to share their knowledge and answer my questions has given me a unique
perspective - something that I would love to carry forward through my life.

After completing my graduation, I have been selected as an Apprentice at Bharat Petroleum Corporation
Limited in Aviation Sector at India’s biggest airport “Mumbai international airport” where I have given
the responsibility to work under Maintenance and Operations department. There I got brief introduction
with operation of high-speed motors and pumps, Design of Transformer, Scada System, Refuellers and
Dispensers, Handling manpower. After seeing my efforts in learning our station manager shifted me to
quality control and safety department where I have given responsibility of checking and maintaining
quality of aviation turbine fuel, its related checks like Cu/Ag test, Millipore Test, Microbiological test,
Tank cleaning and certification. Also, arranging fire drill for station, Assisting in Internal and External
Audits, Arranging Calibration for Equipment’s. BPCL Provide me courses like Interpersonal skill and
First Aider.

After 3 publications, a year of work experience and 2 major, year-long projects in a major I have spent the
last 6 years in, I strongly believe that I am ready to take on the next, and the most natural step in my
academic journey.

The fascinating profiles of faculties and other ongoing researches are my key reasons to aspire to join the
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from your reputed Institute. The curriculum and research-
groups will enable me to gain the depth and breadth of knowledge needed to empower change at the real-
world level. I am extremely confident that this program is tailor-made for my requirements, and will
fulfill my dream of working in the electrical sector.
