• It is important that followers put their hearts into what they are
being asked to do and accomplish. Only then, they will have the
internal desire to go above and beyond what will be required of
them.
• This will in time develop the internal commitment necessary to
get the job done.
• Realizing that individuals have responsibilities and obligations
outside their career, a clear sense of purpose and personal
commitment to a goal will help them prioritize multiple and
frequently competing commitments.

• Wining the hearts from others involves proving them that an

objective aligns with their own priorities.
• It involves seeking out and offering opportunities for them to
contribute to a meaningful cause in a meaningful way.
• It involves thinking and acting in a way that reflects shared values,
principles and intentions.
• It requires doing things for the right reasons during moments of truth,
not from your perspective but from theirs.
• Acting in self-centered ways can quickly undermine buy-in and lose
the hearts of potential followers.
• Demonstrating legitimately selfless approach will pay dividends as
colleagues gain confidence that your intent and purpose match
theirs.

• Members of organization generally do not work in vacuum or in

isolation. They typically act as contributing members of a team.
• With ‘teamworks’ comes the shared assumptions that to
succeed, each team member must:
• Contribute to the team’s purpose, strategic intent or goal

• Collaboration & contribution are therefore important
• Individuals must be given the opportunity to contribute to a cause they
consider to be important and essential.
