prayer.

Are you all present? Yes Sir!

Very good.

Before we proceed to our next topic we will have a short

review with our previous lesson.

B. Establishing a purpose At the end of the lesson the student should be able to
for the lesson investigate the relationship between the amount of force
applied and the mass of the object to the amount of
change in the object’s motion.
Specific Objectives:
1. Discuss the Law of Acceleration
2. Solve net force and mass of an object and its
acceleration
C. Presenting
Examples/instances of the
new lesson
What is the video all about? Law of
acceleration
D. Discussing new ACCELERATION
concepts and practicing
new skills #1 Newton’s Second Law of Motion states that:
“A body’s acceleration is directly proportional to the
force exerted on it and is in the same direction as the
force”.

Newton's second law of motion pertains to the behavior

of objects for which all existing forces are not balanced.
The acceleration of an object depends directly upon the
net force acting upon the object, and inversely upon the
mass of the object.

As the force acting upon an object is increased, the

acceleration of the object is increased. As the mass of an
object is increased, the acceleration of the object is
decreased.

E. Discussing new
concepts and practicing Newton's second law of motion can be formally stated as
new skills #2 follows:

The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force

is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force,
in the same direction as the net force, and inversely
proportional to the mass of the object.

This statement can be expressed in equation form as

follows:
a = Fnet / m
Example:

Acceleration= Net Force/mass

Acceleration= (3400N-400N)/ 1200 Kg
Acceleration =2.5 m/s2
The above equation is often rearranged to a more familiar
form as shown below. The net force is equated to the
product of the mass times the acceleration.
Fnet = m • a

Example:

Calculate the Net Force.

Net Force= mass x acceleration

Net Force= 7150x2
Net Force= 14,300N

Formula: m=Fnet/a

Example:

mass= Net Force/acceleration

mass= 200N/ 0.8 m/s2
mass= 25 kg

Again, how are you going to determine the net force Net Force= mass x
of an object? acceleration
What formula are you going to use if you going to Acceleration= Net
solve its acceleration? Force/mass
If the acceleration of the object is given, how are you mass= Net
going to find its mass? Force/acceleration
