SUMMARY

Pancasila's significance as a philosophical basis for combating forest

degradation in the 5.0 era. In this increasingly sophisticated era,
forest degradation is becoming a more complicated environmental
issue that requires a holistic approach. As the foundation of the
Indonesian state, Pancasila plays an essential role in resolving social
and environmental issues, including the serious problem of forest
degradation.

This paper describes how Pancasila, as a set of universal values, can

be utilized to combat forest degradation. Pancasila teaches values
such as mutual cooperation, justice, and equilibrium that are highly
pertinent to environmental preservation. Pancasila can also influence
the perspectives and actions of individuals regarding forest
conservation. Therefore, Pancasila is a solid foundation for
addressing environmental issues, such as forest degradation.

This paper also discusses the significance of implementing Pancasila

to combat forest degradation, as well as how Pancasila can enhance
environmental quality and human welfare. This paper demonstrates
how the implementation of Pancasila values has been successful in
forest conservation efforts in Indonesia through the use of actual
case studies.

In the era of 5.0, which is becoming increasingly complex and

advanced, Pancasila is a highly pertinent value for resolving
environmental issues, such as forest degradation. This paper
provides a deeper comprehension of the significance of Pancasila in
resolving Indonesia's environmental issues. It is anticipated that the
community can improve the quality of the environment and the well-
being of society as a whole through the application of Pancasila
values.

I. INTRODUCTION

❖ Background
The significance of Pancasila as a philosophical basis for
combating forest degradation in era 5.0 demonstrates the role of
Indonesia's national ideology in addressing environmental
challenges. Pancasila is the intellectual basis of Indonesia's
national identity and serves as a guide for the nation's values and
beliefs, including those regarding the preservation and protection
of the environment. This is due to the fact that Pancasila promotes
awareness of the significance of conserving forests and
biodiversity through its core values. Initially, Pancasila
emphasizes the significance of compassion and the preservation
of life. Pancasila encourages us to act responsibly. Environmental
responsibility and respect for natural resources are prohibited by
Pancasila. By upholding the Pancasila values, we can prevent the
destruction of forests through responsible action.

The purpose of discussing the significance of Pancasila in era 5.0

forest degradation prevention is to emphasize the need for a
strong ethical and moral foundation when addressing
environmental issues. In the era 5.0, where technology and
digitalization are advancing at a rapid rate, it is essential to
maintain a sense of responsibility and reverence for nature.
Pancasila is a framework for environmental principles that can
help individuals and institutions prioritize environmental
protection and sustainability when making decisions.

Indonesia still faces significant environmental challenges, such as

deforestation, illegal logging, and land conversion, making it
imperative to debate the significance of Pancasila in combating
forest degradation in era 5.0. Not only do these issues have
detrimental effects on the environment, but they also endanger
the livelihoods of local communities and exacerbate social and
economic inequality. Consequently, it is essential to investigate
the function of Pancasila in addressing these issues and fostering
sustainable development.

II. SURVEY METHOD

We conducted our survey using an online questionnaire and journal

analysis. In this method, there were seven respondents, and the
forms were filled out on the same day. This online survey was
generated by us using Google Forms and FormsApp. This
questionnaire includes five questions that are given to respondents.

IV. ANALYSIS

In the survey we conducted, there were 4 questions related to forest

degradation and Pancasila values. These questions were answered by 7
respondents and provided conclusions.
1. Are there still lots of forests around you?

From the survey results, it was found that 57.1% of the respondents
still had a lot of forest around them and 42.9% did not.

2. In your opinion, forest degradation is appropriate or inappropriate in

accordance with the second precept of Pancasila?

From the survey results it is known that 57.1% of respondents feel

that forest degradation is in accordance with the second precept and
42.9% of respondents feel that it is not appropriate.

3. What Pancasila values can be used as a reference in caring for forest

sustainability? (Ex: mutual cooperation, justice, etc.)
From the survey results, the values of Pancasila can be used as a
reference in preserving forests according to respondents, namely
ethics and humanity, social justice for all Indonesian people, practice
Pancasila values by preserving plants and the environment, belief in
the one and only God.

4. As a society with Pancasila principles, what are your

suggestions/strategies in overcoming forest degradation in the 5.0
era?

6
From the survey results, according to respondents,
suggestions/strategies for overcoming forest degradation in the 5.0
era are enforcing the law, carrying out activities such as reforestation
and planting environmentally friendly traits for future generations,
carrying out reforestation, requiring trees in every house.

7
CONCLUSION

Pancasila values and Indonesian nature conservation are founded

on "Believe in the one God" and "Justice and acculturated
humanity." The former implies that humans do not need to remove
forests for agricultural, infrastructure, and settlement purposes,
whereas the latter implies that humans are just and civilized. The
third principle states that cooperation requires unity and that
actions that cause harm and damage relationships with other parties
must be terminated. The Pancasila ethos is the belief that all living
things should be treated equally and judiciously for prosperity and
unity. It is based on the principle of social equity for the majority of
Indonesia's population, which means that if no one's will is
imposed upon another, they will both be wise and have the same
right to prosperity. However, if forests are cut down, land is
dredged for coal pools, and wetlands are drained for oil palm
plantations and HTI, rivers will dry up, fish will perish, elephants
will invade gardens, and tigers will prey on humans, which will
disrupt and impede social justice.

Four queries related to forest degradation and its values were

included in the survey. The survey results revealed that 57.1% of
respondents were surrounded by a substantial amount of forest,
while 42.9% were not. It was determined that forest degradation is
consistent with the second principle of Pancasila and is therefore
inappropriate. Suggestions for combating forest degradation in the
5.0 era include enforcing the law, engaging in activities such as
reforestation and planting environmentally favorable traits, and
mandating the presence of trees in every home.

In caring for forest sustainability, Pancasila values such as ethics

and humanity, social justice for all Indonesians, and faith in the one
God can be referred to.
