1. PEACE
Operational Definition: freedom from, or cessation of, war or hostilities; that condition of a nation or
community in which it is not at war with another.
2. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Technical Definition: performance outcomes that indicate the extent to which a person has
accomplished specific goals that were the focus of activities in instructional environments, specifically in
school, college, and university.
Operational Definition: the results obtained by a student at end of a specific term in all subject.
3. SCHOOL
Operational Definition: an educational institution designed to provide learning spaces and learning
environments for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers.
4. TEACHER
Operational Definition: provides verbal questions, statements, or signals regarding instructional content
to the whole class or small group for possible group response or allowing one student in the group to
respond.
5. ANXIETY
Operational Definition: observable measures such as sweating palms (observable as sweat gland
activity), increased heart rate (observable with heartbeat recording), dilated pupils, and other
observable physiological changes.
6. CLASS
Technical Definition: a body of students meeting regularly to study the same subject
Operational Definition: a body of students or alumni whose year of graduation is the same
7. CLIMATE CHANGE
Technical Definition: a long-term change in the average weather patterns that have come to define
Earth's local, regional and global climates.
Operational Definition: significant changes in global temperature, precipitation, wind patterns and other
measures of climate that occur over several decades or longer. The seas are rising.
8. GENDER
Technical Definition: used to describe the characteristics of women and men that are socially
constructed.
Operational Definition: the distinction between male, female, and genders which are a combination of
male and female, or neither male nor female, as reported by a respondent.
9. INTELLIGENCE
Technical Definition: the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations
Operational Definition: the ability to learn from experience, solve problems, and use our knowledge to
adapt to new situations.
10. HAPPINESS
Operational: measured by counting the number of smiles a person emits during an observation period
of specified length.
