Life Orientation
Research; Role of volunteers

A volunteer is someone who does something to satisfy the needs of someone to make

their lives better. People join organizations in order to help others such as maybe going

to an old age home and keeping the elderly company, some others go to an orphanage

and give their old toys and clothes to children, they go to schools and read to the

youngesters books and some play with them as well. A volunteer needs to act as a

leader satisfy people and be kind to every person around them. Volunteers in

organizations go to places every week to make something better for others, they maybe

go to a community and pick up papers around the area, others form large groups and

sweep the streets and others start a neighbourhood watch. A volunteer should be

modest, kind and be able to speak up, they must not mistreat others in a bad way but

show them love and respect. Some do volunteering to buikd a better self-image for

themselves they also do it because it makes them happy and to maybe give back to the

comminity. You also gain qualities from being a volunteer such as leadership, patience,

time-management, able to speak to people of all ages and gaining a better self-image

for yourself. The challenges most organizations deal with is the lack of volunteers

making it hard to fulfil some duties. If you are a volunteer then you are doing something

good for yourself and for others.
