ABOUT HAM RADIO COMMUNICATION
Amateur radio, also known as ham radio, is the use of radio frequency spectrum for purposes of
non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, private
recreation, radio sport, contesting, and emergency communications.

HOW DOES IT WORK

amateur radio operators - and they can be doctors, students, kids, politicians, truck drivers, movie
stars, missionaries and what you - share a basic knowledge of radio technology and operating
principles, and pass an examination for a license issued by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC). The license allows ham radio operators to operate on radio frequencies
allocated by the FCC for use; these frequencies are also known as the “Amateur Bands.” Be it
through Morse Code on an old brass telegraph key, voice communication on a hand-held radio or
computerized messages transmitted via satellite, all hams use radio to reach out to the world.

Hams can operate from just above the AM broadcast band to the microwave region, in the
gigahertz range. Many ham bands are found in the frequency range that goes from above the AM
radio band (1.6 MHz) to just above the citizens band (27 MHz). During daylight, 15 to 27 MHz
is said to be a good band for long-distance communications. At night, the ideal band for is 1.6 to
15 MHz These bands are often referred to historically as short-wave bands (representing short-
wave radio). Unlike frequencies used by FM radio stations and TV stations, which are line-of-
sight and therefore limited to 40 or 50 miles, short-waves bounce off the ionosphere from the
transmitter to the receiver’s antenna. The higher the frequency is, the shorter the wavelength.
Some ham radio operators use the very dependable Morse code, while others rely on voice.
Morse code signals (beeps) often get through when voice transmissions cannot.

What Are the Different Kinds of Ham Radios?

The Handheld Transceiver
The HT is perfect for voice communications over a range of a few miles when the operator is on
foot, or simply when a more powerful radio is unnecessary for the desired communication. Many
hams keep an HT on and handy for monitoring purposes in the home, and depending on the
location and situation, it may provide more than enough capability for casual local operations.
Typically transmitting about 5 watts of power, the HT uses frequency modulation (FM) to carry
clear voice signals. It has an integrated microphone and speaker, an attached antenna that can be
easily removed and replaced with other radiators for various operating situations, and usually
knob and keypad controls for basic functions. Often, an HT will have ports to accommodate a
headset with combination earphone(s) and microphone, as well as a remote push-to-talk switch.

The Mobile Station:

A mobile station is installed in a vehicle and will have a handheld microphone with a push-to-
talk switch on it, rather than a chassis-integrated microphone like the HT. The mobile station
chassis is usually a few inches across and a few inches deep, and perhaps two-to-three inches
high, give or take. The chassis may be mounted under (or in) a vehicle dashboard, or placed
under a seat to be operated with a remote-control head or faceplate that is easier to mount. The
mobile station will also use an external antenna mounted on the vehicle and connected using
coaxial cable.

The Base Station
The term base station means a radio station that is fixed in one place, usually in the home. A
mobile station like those described above may be configured with a DC power supply to serve as
a base station, and there are larger and more capable radios designed specifically for base station
implementation. A base station will use a handheld microphone much like the mobile station, or
it may use a desktop mic or boom mic if the operator chooses such substitutions. An external
antenna is most commonly implemented with a base station, typically mounted on a mast or a
tower outside the home. A wide variety of antenna types are feasible with the base station,
including directional antennas that boost signal strength (provide gain) in the pointing direction
of the antenna.

The Portable Station

A portable ham radio station is a station that is transported to a location other than its normal
operating location to be operated. This is not the same as a mobile station that is almost always
traveling. Instead, consider an operator who transports his base station to a camping location and
powers it with a battery to communicate while camping. Or, an operator may take a station from
home to a state park to operate, participating in the popular Parks on the Air (POTA) activity.
Portable operations are fun and implemented by many hams, including the author.

Outcome:

1. A ham radio license allows you to communicate over long distances without the internet or
cell towers.
2. Cell phones and the internet rely on a massive network of cables and giant data centers.
3. can use your amateur radio license to volunteer and assist during an emergency.
4. Software Infrastructure: communication can fail due to hacking, bugs, and other software
failures.
5. Learn a new skill to add to your resume.

Conclusion of the Activity:

This enables communication across a city, region, country, continent, the world, or even into
space. In many countries, amateur radio operators may also send, receive, or relay radio
communications between computers or transceivers connected to secure virtual private networks
on the Internet.

About Menstruation and Hygiene
Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is defined as 'Women and adolescent girls using a
clean menstrual management material to absorb or collect blood that can be changed in privacy
as often as necessary for the duration of the menstruation period

Menstrual Hygiene Day (MHD, MH Day in short) is an annual awareness day on May 28 to
highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management (MHM) at a global level. It
was initiated by the German-based NGO WASH United in 2013 and observed for the first time
in 2014.
In developing countries, women's choices of menstrual hygiene materials are often limited by the
costs, availability and social norms. Adequate sanitation facilities and access to feminine
hygiene products are important but opening discussion making adequate education for women
and girls is of equal importance. Research has found that not having access to menstrual hygiene
management products can keep girls home from school during their period each month.
Menstrual Hygiene Day is an occasion for publicizing information in the media, including social
media, and to engage decision-makers in policy dialogue. The day aims to advocate for the
integration of menstrual hygiene management into global, national and local policies and
programs.

Objectives

 To address the challenges and hardships many women and girls face during their
menstruation.
 To highlight the positive and innovative solutions being taken to address these challenges.
 To catalyze a growing, global movement that recognizes and supports girls' and women's
rights and build partnerships among those partners on national and local level.
 To engage in policy dialogue and actively advocate for the integration of menstrual hygiene
management (MHM) into global, national and local policies and programs.

Outcome:

In global scale menstruation problem among women is biggest barrels and sensitive issue.
Especially in developing country like India. Women hesitate to reveal this in public view
Since in order to bring awareness and minimize the women death. Govt of India had planned
many

Schemes and educational programs about this issue

Conclusion of the Activity:

1. Minimize the loss of women death rate due this menstruation hygiene
2. Reduce population growth rate by educating problems due over population on global
scale.
3. Educate the illiterate women about hygiene & un- hygiene issue on their health.
