1 Introduction ● Warm-up activity (game related to vocabulary)


(10 minutes) ● Get to know each other - student introduces herself.
● Talk about presentation (Ask the student if they have ever given a presentation before
● Explain that today's lesson is about public speaking and its importance
● Write the lesson objectives on the board/slide

2 What is public speaking? What public speaking is


(20 minutes) 1. Ask the student if they know what public speaking is.
2. Exercise 1. Ask students to arrange the words to form a complete definition of public speaking. (Public speaking
as the act of giving a speech or presentation to an audience).
3. Exercise 2a Ask students to write down situations where public speaking is used. Set time for 1 minute.
4. Exercise 2b put pictures where public speaking is used (school presentations, debates, job interviews, wedding
speeches, talk shows, sales pitches, etc.). Ask students to write the names of the situations (5 mins). Check
together and give feedback. Ask if students have been/seen any of the situations. If yes, ask students to tell
more.

Different types of speeches.


1. Inform students that there are different types of speeches.
2. Exercise 3 , ask students to match the types of speeches. Check together and give feedback.
3. Go back to Exercise 2b, ask students to label each place with the types of speeches (Example: school
presentation - informative speech)
3 Purposes of presentation ● Explain that every presentation has a purpose or goal, such as informing, persuading, entertaining, or inspiring

● Ask the student to think of a topic they would like to talk about and what their goal would be for the presentation
● Write some examples on the board, such as "How to care for a pet", "Why recycling is important", or "My favorite
hobby"
● Discuss how knowing the purpose of the presentation can help the speaker choose the right content, tone, and
delivery style. Using the examples in the previous point, discuss the purpose (Exercise 4).
● Ask students to do the task in Jamboard Frame 7 independently. Check together and discuss as a class.

5 Overcoming stage fright ● Ask the student if they have ever felt nervous or scared when speaking in public. Elicit more from the student

● Explain that stage fright is a common fear and can be managed with some techniques.
● Write some tips on the board, such as deep breathing, positive self-talk, visualization, and focusing on the
message instead of the audience. Ask students to go to Exercise 6 and do the activity.
● Practice some breathing exercises and visualization techniques with the student. Students can search photos
and/or draw pictures on Jamboard to visualise.
