SUMMARY

One day, while Aponitulau sat weaving a basket under his house, he began to feel very
hungry. He then remembered that his field was still unplanted. So, he called his wife names
Aponibolinayen and said that they will plant sugarcane together. They went to the field and
planted sugarcanes. After 7 days, Aponitulau went back to the field to see the long pointy
leaves of the sugarcanes. He then grew impatient and was determined to use his magical
powers to grow the plants faster. So, after 5 days, the plants were all tall and ready to eat.
About this time, Gaygayoma, the daughter of Bagbagak who lives in the sky, saw the
sugarcanes and asked his father and he could send stars to the Earth and get some of its stems
and beans. His father instantly commanded the stars to go down and get her some. Gaygayoma
was delighted when she cooked the beans. But when she ate it all, she became greedy and
asked her father if they could go together to the field and eat as much as they want. Her father
agreed and they went to the field that night.
In the morning, Aponitulau went to the field to see chewed sugarcanes. He was curios and
was determined to know who ate his plants. So, that night he hid in the bushes and after some
time, Gaygayoma and the stars came down to Earth. Gaygayoma was exquisite. But, Aponitulau
didn’t want to frighten her but also want to meet her and talk to her, so, he slowly showed
himself and approached Gaygayoma. All the stars went back to the sky while Gagayoma just
stayed there. They talked and got to know eachother better. Suddenly, Gaygayoma shocked
Aponitulau by asking him to marry her even though she knows that he is married and even
threatened him that the stars would eat him if he won’t go with her. So, out of fear, he agreed.
A few months after, they had a son named Takyayen. At that time, Aponitulau missed his wife
on the Earth so much that he begged for Gaygayoma’s permission for days. And finally,
Gaygayoma agreed but he must come back when the night strokes. When he was on the Earth,
he went to his wife and explained everything that had happened. But that night, Aponitulau
had to go back. Good thing, Gaygayoma let him go to Earth for sometime and also agreed to
bring their son to the Earth so that he could play with his half brother named, Kanag. But, while
Kanag and Takyayen were playing, it started to rain even though the sun was up. According to
Aponitulau that these were the tears of Gaygayoma because she misses her child. So,
Aponitulau brought Takyayen back to his mother. And when Takyayen grew up, his father chose
the girl he married. Takyayen stayed on the Earth while his mother stayed up in the sky.
