COVID 19 started 2 years ago and still around, many people died because of this
virus. Hundreds of thousands of people have been affected by the virus and many have
died. And this is definitely not good news. People all over the world are in fear and it’s
negatively affecting everyone both physically and mentally. Homeless people and those
depending upon daily wages are struggling to live. And this is something many of us
could not even imagine. It has turned out traumatic situation and suffered both mentally
and physically. President Duterte declared a quarantine and the responses are varied
and some are annoying, some are amusing, etc. You can see people violating the rules,
some cursing on others who violates the rules, some are asking to follow the rules etc.
Because of this action the cases of the Philippines still high on cases. But the
government has doing good by implemented the Social Amelioration Program to help
the poorest of the poor who do not have jobs and money to live by during Enhance
Community Quarantined or lockdown. Likewise, the government has provided financial
assistance to people who lost jobs, returning OFWs and Small Medium Scale
Industries. And Inter Agency Task Force to manage the testing, tracing and treatment of
infected people. Covid-19 is spreading quickly and is at its highest peak, increasing day
by day. So, doctors are suggesting different precautionary measures to take, to prevent
getting affected by the virus. Everyone should take care of themselves as well as of
their surroundings, to ensure there is no infected person. Several preventive steps and
precautionary measures are being taken to prevent getting infected. But now President
Duterte declared that will no longer require the use of face shield in any area. Still
wearing face mask and social distancing is a must for our safety and it also need to be
vaccinated for our peace of mind while going outside. We’ve been waiting for this
announcement for so long, God please let this continue to a better society, environment
and for everyone’s safety and health. I believe, we will go through this by staying strong
and hope we the humans should change after post COVID. Everything will be okay
slowly.

ABM is the short term for Accountancy, Business and Management. ABM
strand is under the Academic Track of K-12 Program. The Accountancy, Business and
Management (ABM) strand would focus on the basic concepts of financial management,
business management, corporate operations, and all things that are accounted for. This
is perfect for those students who plans to take up business courses and accountancy.
This track is perfect for those students who are interested to learn more about
organizing and planning for them business in future. Every student is allowed to choose
the ABM strand as long as there are willing to learn and his / her desires belong in this
field.

There is also a lot of opportunities under ABM. Management and accounting

which could be sales manager, human resources, marketing director, project officer,
bookkeeper, accounting clerk, internal auditor, and a lot more. Accounting is not boring
if you would enjoy and appreciate every accounting and business topics.

“Accounting is for only intelligent students and have a knowledge about the
Math.” I strongly disagree in that statement not all ABM students just like me I don’t
really good in Math but I take this strand. I know a lot of students just like me is scared
about complicated math computation but accounting is not more on math. In reality, this
strand is needing more an analyzing skill and of course you must know how to compute
a fundamentals operation simply addition, subtraction and so on because you need it to
balance a financial sheet
 I experienced a lot of new things and learnings from it. Being an ABM student
makes me more patient and responsible especially when it comes on the activities and
performance tasks that I need to do. It makes me become more serious on studying
because our subjects are not easy and it requires hard work to pass on it. It is actually
more on analysis and difficulty lessons is still depends on you, so study well. To be
specific as an ABM student, yes, it is not easy strand. All you need is a lot of patience
and efforts but behind of this, you can achieve the unforgettable memories, learnings
and experience.

Being a teenager in this time of generation isn’t easy on the self-esteem. Self-
esteem it is all about your self-worth and how you feel about yourself when it comes to
self-esteem. If you have poor self-esteem, you’re probably lacking in confidence and are
more prone to see things negatively. If you have a high level of self-esteem, you will be
better at self-love and more optimistic about life in general. But sometimes we cannot
deny the fact that also people in our life is the one who always bring down that can
cause low self-esteem. When the self-esteem level drops below a certain point, it’s not
uncommon to become depressed. In fact, it’s estimated that roughly 85% of people
worldwide (adults and adolescents) have low self-esteem. Low self-esteem has been
linked to violent behavior, school dropout rates, teenage pregnancy, suicide, and low
academic achievement. However, one of the main causes of low self-esteem is the
social media because what we see on the internet sometimes giving us insecurities
that’s when you start to feel pressured to look well and please your peers, problems
might occur. Maintaining a flawless version of oneself can become increasingly difficult,
leading to disappointments and low self- esteem, especially if your social media image
differs from your real-life picture.
 Also, changing body to the appearance of pimples, it can seem as if Mother
Nature herself is conspiring against you to negatively affect your level of self-
confidence. Remember, it’s self-esteem, emphasis on the word “self”. No one else can
give it to you. It’s kind of like the St. Francis quote, “It is in giving that we receive.”
Nowhere is this truer than in the development of self-esteem. Think about it, if you have
something to give others then you have value. We live in a very narcissistic age of the
Internet, selfies, and they look at me pictures of what we had for lunch. This is not self-
esteem; these are feeble attempts at creating it. Go old-school with this. Focus on
helping others, expect nothing in return, notice how it makes you feel about yourself,
rinse and repeat.

Capital punishment, death penalty or execution is considered as the infliction of

death upon a person by judicial process as a punishment for an offence. Crimes that
result in a death penalty are known as capital crimes. Death penalties are enforced on
people who have performed profound malpractices and crimes. Death Penalty in the
Philippines is stated on the Republic Act No. 7659 which is an act to impose the death
penalty for certain heinous crimes, amending for that purpose the revised penal laws, as
amended, other special penal laws, and for other purposes.

In ancient times, the death penalties were more of a torture than that of
punishments. The methods were torturous, and it would strain the body of the culprit in
such a way that the pain would lead to their death. Traditional methods of execution are
much slower and more unpleasant than modern approaches.
Electrocution is a modern form of capital punishment in which the prisoner is bound to a
chair and a high voltage current is passed through his body, killing him. Even though it
was abolished during Cory Aquino’s term, it was re-imposed when Ramos stepped into
the presidency. It was also present in Estrada and Arroyo’s term.

At the present time, Death Penalty has been very hot topic especially when there
is a crime of homicide. The Filipinos argue whether it is applicable to our justice system
or not. In tackling about this topic, I should ask this question, “What will happen if one of
your relatives or friends becomes a victim of this inhumane killings? Are you still
disagree even though they killed your parents? Siblings or any members of your
family?” Looking at the Philippine context, due to various reasons and particular
situations, we view death penalty as killing people which is technically correct, but the
point of Death Penalty is to send fear to brutal criminals to re-think their actions.

According to Bedau H (1982), Most people have a natural fear of death it’s a trait
man have to think about what will happen before we act, if we don’t think it consciously,
we will think about it unconsciously. It’s never meant to completely eradicate crimes. Its
proposition is to reduce crime rates. Some people do not understand the concept of
bringing it back. If you have death penalty. People will think it through to commit heavy
crimes. Their courage to do bad things will be measured when death penalty is on the
table. Death Penalty is one of the debatable criminal justice systems in the Philippines,
some people are disagreed because of the officials and police. But we must also think
that death penalty can help the criminal case and it has the ability to spare the lives of
thousands of prospective victims in our country.
