Objectives:
Have an in-depth discussion about mental
health and its importance to the student's
emotional, psychological, and social well-
being.

Students will learn how to care and maintain


for their mental health.

And lastly, participate in the given activities.


Activity 1:
Answer the following on a piece of paper.
Mental Health
"Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to
cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and
work well, and contribute to their community. It is an integral
component of health and well-being that underpins our individual
and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and
shape the world we live in." (WHO, 2022)
Mental Health Problem
Mental health problem is a health problem that affects people’s
thoughts, moods, behavior, or the way they perceive the world
around them.

It causes distress and may affect the person’s ability to function at


work, in relationships, or in everyday tasks. It can range from mild
disorders lasting only a few weeks to severe illnesses that can be
life-long and cause serious disability.

4. Dissociation and Dissociative Disorders
5. Eating Disorder
6. Hoarding

7. Domestic Violence or Abuse

Signs and Symptoms of Mental Illness
1. Feeling sad or down.
2. Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate.
3. Excessive fears or worries.
4. Extreme mood changes.
5. Withdrawal from friends and activities.
6. Tiredness, low energy, problem in sleeping.
7. Detachment from reality.
8. Inability to cope with daily problems or stress.
9. Major changes in eating habits.
10. Excessive anger, hostility or violence

Ways you could do to help others who are experiencing
Mental Health Problems

1. Listen to their problem without any judgment.


2. Show them unconditional love and support.
3. Encourage positive thoughts.
4. Encourage and help them in doing tasks and activities to boost
their morale.
5. Introduce them to a trusted physician for advice.
Ways you could do to look after your Mental Health

1. Talk and share your feelings and thoughts with others.


2. Keep in touch.
3. Do regular exercise.
4. Practice Meditation and or Reflection Activity (Journaling, etc.)
5. Stay positive.
Importance of Mental Health

Mental Health is important because it affects how we think, feel


act, how we handle stress and make choices.
