The Torilian system is the solar system that holds the planet Toril where your adventure is
based.

The Planet Toril

Toril is the third planet in the system and is the most populated and teeming with life.
Approximately 60% of the surface being covered with water. The fauna on Toril ranges from
creatures living in the air, on the land, under the water and subterranean habitats.

History

The known history of Toril spans for thousands of years. Below is a brief synopsis of the
major events starting from the earliest recorded.

The Dawn Age – Was a period after the powerful empires of the creator races disappeared
from the face of Toril and their land was occupied by dragons and giants. Constant war for
land in Faerun (Toril’s western most portion of Torils central supercontinent) led to the
creation of great kingdoms and empires.
The First Flowering – At the start of this period the elves had split into five major realms as
well as several smaller ones. It was during this time that the elves cast a ritual known as the
Sundering to create the Isle of Evermeet. That also resulted in widespread disaster which
destroyed or altered much of the world.
The Founding Time – Was the period when the humanoid civilisations began to rise, in a
time when the many dragons and giants were long overthrown and the elf wars no longer
loomed over everyone as a threat.
The Age of Humanity – This period began with the decline of the elven and dwarven
empires and the flourishing and expansion of the human empires around the world. Your
adventure is set during this age.

Adventure background

Northwest Faerun – A region of Wilderness, difficult winter weather. Orc hordes and
Barbarian tribes. It is mostly an untamed region that lay between the large Anauroch desert
in the East and the expansive Sea of Swords in the West.

Frozenfar – This region encompasses the lands north of the Spine of the World mountains,
including the coastal region of the Cold Run, Icewind Dale and its Ten Towns, the island of
the Ice Peak and the Sea of Moving Ice. While it is sparsely populated, it is the home of hale
frontiersmen, desparate runaways and the fierce Reghed Barbarians.

Icewind Dale – Icewind Dale is an arctic tundra located in the Frozenfar region of the North,
known for being the northernmost explored region in all of Faerun. It earned its name from
the harsh winds and icy storms that scoured the landscape.

Flora & Fauna – Icewind Dale is home to animals like Hares, arctic foxes, reindeer and elk
along with beasts like crag cats, mammoths, polar bears, sabre toothed tigers. Snowy owl
bears, and monstrous yetis.

Geography – Icewind Dale is famous for its three mineral laden lakes, Maer Dualdon, Lac
Dinneshere and Redwaters and the imposing mountains of Kelvins Cairn and Mount
Shatterglass.

Notable Locations – Capital of Icewind Dale, Bryn Shandar is also its largest settlement.
Icewind Dales only permanent settlements were known as the Ten Towns. A confederation
of minor settlements that cooperated with each other. It attracted all manner of determined
and desperate folks from across the Realms. The Ten Towns comprised the hamlets nestled
on Redwaters Lake – Good Mead and Dougans Hole; the three settlements located on the
shores of Lac Dinneshere – Easthaven, Caer-Konig and Caer-Dineval; the four that encircled
Maer Dualdon – Lonelywood, Bremen,Termaline and the walled town of Targos; and the
