Task 1:

The graph illustrates the monthly price of contract for 4 different countries on average in a
Europe country between January and September 2002.

Overall, it can be seen that the figures saw an increase during this period, despite
fluctuations. The Domo’s contract cost was the highest while the SimTX one decreased in
the last 3 months of the given year.

In January, Domo contract costed 15 Euro. In spite of slightly fluctuations in April and June,
the figure gradually rose and reached its highest point of 25 Euro in July then declined in the
following months. Also, Lex and Alpha had similar trends though the purchase of Lex’s
contract was two times higher than Alpha in January. The trends of two mobile brands
significantly grew despite variations and peaked at 25 Euro, 18 Euro in the last month
respectively.

By contrast, the figures of SimTX witnessed a fall after increased from 8 Euro in January to
14 Euro in June. In the last 3 months of 2002, the cost gradually decreased below 10 Euro.

WRITING TASK 2
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task
Write about the following topic:
Some people think the government funding should not be used for supporting
art and culture, while others think supporting cultural activities may be
beneficial for the population and the culture. Discuss both these views and give
your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own
knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.

Task 2:

People have different views about spending government finance fairly. While others claim
that it is not necessary to spend money for Art and culture, I would argue that supporting
spiritual activities may bring tons of benefits for the population and culture.

On the one hand, spending government money mainly on economic and public facilities
would directly improve the standard of life for people. Citizens can access advanced
technologies , as well as experience higher quality of education. Financial assistance may
also help indigent areas and disaster zones. As a result, people are likely to want to use
public money for these rather than abstract fields.

On the other hand, supporting government funding for culture and art may not only improve
material life but also spiritual one. Firstly, with these financial assistance, historical arts that
are priceless can be reservable. Thus, citizens of all decades can increase their knowledge
about these masterpieces, they will appreciate what their ancestors had done in the past and
raise awareness about remaining history and culture of their homeland. The other reason
worth mentioning is that protecting culture is also an efficient way to teach our successors
about the past and crave deeply patriotic pride among people’ mindsets. Moreover, art and
culture also bring considerable financial benefits for the nation. For example France, Italy or
China, globally known as rich cultural countries, every year these nations attract thousands
of tourists from all over the world to visit to immerse in art and history. This financial source
makes a great distribution to the GDP of each country.

In conclusion, I believe that by spending justifiable government funding would bring wonder
to citizens’ life in both material and spiritual ways.
