NAMES OF LEARNERS:
Introduction
Every cell in our body contains DNA. DNA is a set of instructions that tells our cells
how to build protein. These instructions are in a language that we did not understand
until recently.
A strand of DNA looks like a ladder. The rungs of this ladder are made up of bases.
Each rung is a pair of two bases that are bonded together in the middle. The four bases
used in DNA are Cytosine, Guanine, Adenine, and Thymine and are paired together in a
specific way: Adenine with Thymine, and Guanine with Cytosine. The order that these
base pairs occur in determines the type of protein built.
2
Protein is made up of amino acids. The order of these amino acids determines the
type of protein built. It is the order of the DNA bases that tell cells the order to place
amino acids. It takes three DNA bases to pair for one amino acid. This series of three
bases is called a codon because it codes for which type of amino acid to be used.
Experiment/Output Guidelines
a. Work with your group to accomplish the task. Observe etiquette in the duration
of the activity.
b. Please be guided by the indicated rubrics above.
c. Uploading of outputs in the google drive provided is on or before Friday, April
21, 2023, Friday. Please be mindful of the deadline. No extensions.
Pre-Lab Questions
Directions: Attach your answers using Folio (A4)-sized bond papers as part of your
output.
1. What is protein synthesis? What are its steps?

Procedures
1. Study the given situation and study the profile of the suspects and additional
information.
3
2. Gather evidences in the scene using the finger print left by the culprit. Use your
knowledge about DNA and RNA base-pairing in decoding the DNA sample in order to
identify the sequence of amino acids. Use the amino acid identifier chart as your
reference. Write the data on the table provided.
3. Compare the sequence of amino acids (proteins) to the profile of the suspects and
additional information given in order to determine the corresponding traits.
4. Identify the culprit using the data or information you got.
The Suspects
