Lesson Plan in Mathematics IV


Quarter II, Module 5

I. Objectives:
1. Find the GCF of the numbers and express the fraction in lowest terms.
2. Develop helpfulness in doing household chores and sportsmanship in activity.
3. Perform the task using the Fraction Make Sense, a strategic material.

II. Subject Matter:

III. Procedure:

A. Preliminary Activities:
1. Drill:

Find the prime factors of the following numbers.

1. 24 4. 16
2. 27 5. 42
3. 12

2. Review

Give the GCF of the given number.

1. 16 and 24 2. 12 and 18
3. 14 and 54 4. 7 and 14

3. Motivation:
What are the household chores that you did at home?
Site some examples of household chores. Show pictures and let the pupils identify
it.

B. Developmental Activities:
1. Presentation

Explain the use of the Strategic Intervention Material

How to use this material?

1. Place the frame box in the booklet where the activity takes place. Be sure that
the windows of the frame box fit in the squares of the activity booklet.

2. Place the tiles on the left side of the frame box.

3.  Now, read the instructions above the activity booklet.

4. Open the first tile, look what behinds it. Then, find the answer on the right side of
the frame and put the tile on it. Then get another tile, and find the answer until
no more tiles left.

5.  After that, close the frame box and flip it and check if your answers are correct
by matching the colors of your tiles with the color of the upper right side of the
activity booklet.

2. Performing the Activities

Group the pupils into 3 groups. Give the activity booklet, tiles and the frame box to
each group. Give them 10 minutes to answer the activity. A rubric given, in this
activity.

3. Analysis

Ask the following questions:

How did you solve the problem?


How did you change fraction to lowest term?

4. Abstraction

A fraction is in its lowest term if the numerator and the denominator


have no other common factor except 1.
To reduce a fraction to its lowest term, divide the numerator and the
denominator by their GCF (Greatest Common Factor).

5. Application

Write the corresponding fraction of the illustration and reduce each fraction to its lowest
term.
V. Evaluation:
