IV. Narrative Report on the Impact of the Activity:
Reading is a basic tool for lifelong learning. However, in a world where digital gadgets are quickly
taking over pupil's attention, encouraging them to read will seem like a challenge especially the 2 years
wasted because of the modular lessons. At the very beginning of our face to face classes, we conducted
pre-test and phil-iri to determine their reading level and addressed learners who are struggling/slow. I
ask the help of the parents to make this reading development successful.
To increase comprehension level of my pupils, I encouraged them to read stories and asked them
questions afterwards. I also gave them some simple rewards to motivate them to read books or simple
stories. And also, the “study buddy” which the slow learners are partnered with the average/fast learners
are very much effective.
To develop also their critical higher thinking of my pupils, I used powerpoint presentations, available
reading materials to stimulate their eagerness to learn. Individual reading also will also motivate them to
improve their reading abilities.
