Facebook, 3 answers four hours and 3 answers 5 hours. They also spent 5 hours on

out that TikTok, Facebook and YouTube have significant impact on academic
performance of students. The gathered data shows that students prefer YouTube more
than the Facebook for academic purpose.

INTERPRETATION OF THE DATA

The result shows that Tiktok app is most utilized bye the students. Tiktok has
become one of the most popular social media platforms for sharing short videos.
Yukselir & Komur (2017) mentioned that video could be a powerful tool for
communicating information in an appealing audiovisual manner. Zhang’s (2019)
research have indicated that Tiktok has helped provide a platform for sharing
knowledge and education people with innovative teaching modes, enhancing student’s
learning motivation and interests via short video.
However, you tube is most commonly used of the students on their
academics.YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine next to Google. People upload
more than 100 hours of video per minute to YouTube.A study by Pearson Education
(2010), Social Media in Higher Education, found that YouTube is the most common
social media service used to communicate with students. Also, students commonly
used Facebook and you tube to get information around the world. Facebook has built
in tools, such as discussion board (wall), instant messaging (chat) and email
(messenger), which all allow for multitasking (Judd, 2013). Multitasking is more
pronounced among students (Carrier, Cheever, Rosen, Benitez & Chang, 2009).
Omegle, Twitter and watsapp are types of media literacy they often used.

CONCLUSION
Social media usage is in rise in recent years. Students’ use social media for
academic as well as socialization purpose. Social media has now become a very
crucial part of our personal and professional life. The growth of social media over the
years has transformed how most users experience the internet. There have been
diverse reactions from academics and researchers on the impact of social networks
and how they affect academic performance. Hence, their academic performance must
be managed well keeping in view all the factors that can positively or negatively
affect their academic achievement. The students who are using the social media need
to be monitored about their usage of these websites. Despite the fact that the other
Universities or Dep Ed schools are banning the surfing of these websites in their
campuses still there is a need to ban the third party software’s which help students to
access these websites.

RECOMMENDATION
From the findings and conclusion, the researchers offer the following scope
for the future:

1. discuss and teach the importance of proper time management to the students and
use social media as a way to improve the students’ reading skills.

2. social Networking Sites should be expanded and new pages should be created to
enhance academic activities and avoid setbacks in the students’ academic
performance.

3. the use of Social media network by students should focus on the academic
relevance of those sites instead of using them for negative purposes
